Katie Flood Declares She’s “Back in Action” as Chief Stew: Find Out Why
The Below Deck Mediterranean alum is diving back into her yachtie side after giving up her career in yachting.
Katie Flood got "back in action" after quitting her career in yachting. The Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 chief stew temporarily made her return to her old career on Oct. 31, where she dressed up like she was ready to set sail and, yes, it was for Halloween.
Katie took to her Instagram Story on Halloween 2024, where she revealed that she dressed up in a cheeky sailor's outfit for the big night. This look might have been a far cry from the uniform she wore aboard Lady Michelle and might not be too practical for actually sailing the seas, but she made it work.
In the photo, Katie poses wearing a blue dress with a striped red and white top underneath and a white tie. She paired the look with red over-the-knee socks topped with little blue bows and a pair of black high heels. The look was completed with a white and black captain's hat sitting on top of her head.
"Your favourite chief stew is back in action for one night only," she captioned the mirror selfie, showing off what is likely her chic living room in her Dubai apartment behind her.
Katie Flood Reveals Why She Moved To Dubai
During a virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in early August, Katie revealed that she was broadcasting from Dubai. After Katie declared that she was in the city, WWHL host Andy Cohen asked if she "just moved" there.
"Yes I did, I just moved here literally like, three days ago," Katie said, before revealing her reasons for moving.
"The life, it's a vibe," she said. "I'm officially not a yachtie anymore, so I'm taking a step into real life."
Why did Katie Flood quit the yachting industry?
In an early October interview with Women's Day New Zealand, Katie revealed what motivated her to quit yachting. "I've been in the industry for 10 years and it got to the point where I could not do it anymore," she explained. "Yachting consumes your life."
"I was working 18 hour days," she continued. "I didn't have the energy to do anything healthy like work out or meditating. I chose violence and it completely changed my whole life!"
What is Katie Flood doing now after quitting the yachting industry?
Since moving to Dubai and quitting yachting, Katie has been taking it very easy. "I have a much more balanced life now," she told the publication. "I can pursue other things and I know I will have time to go to a yoga class."
"As soon as I got to Dubai, all these doors just started opening up," she continued. "People invited me to events and wanted to work with me. It all just happened really organically."
Katie's Instagram is proof of this balanced life. Her account is filled with photos of her relaxing in Dubai, eating delicious-looking food, and hanging out with her best friend and new roommate (as she confirmed to Women's Day New Zealand), Below Deck Med alum, Natalya Scudder.
"We'd met each other at various Bravo events and chatted over the years," she explained. "Then we found out we both wanted to move here, so we decided to get a place together. Neither of us know a lot of people in Dubai, so it's nice to have that support when we're going through such big changes in our lives."
Is Katie Flood dating right now?
After having a brief fling with Tom Schwartz in Season 3 of Winter House, Katie told the publication that she is really focusing on herself at the moment. But, now that she is no longer working in the yachting industry, she is looking forward to maintaining steadier relationships.
"It's so hard to maintain relationships in the yachting industry," she explained. "I've sacrificed a decade for that. I've been on a few dates in Dubai and I've had so much fun. However, I'm not really invested in trying to find a man at the moment. Right now, I feel like it's about me."
