Lisa Rinna's Family Is Putting a Benihana-Inspired Spin on Quarantine Cooking
While hunkered down at home,The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom and her daughters are whipping up copycat restaurant recipes.
Lisa Rinna and her family can't go to Benihana, so they're bringing the Japanese steakhouse to them. In a recent Instagram Story, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mother showed what her family is cooking up while in self-quarantine, and the video left us wondering: How does one make a Benihana steak at home?
In the video, Lisa pans over the stovetop at her Beverly Hills home. There's quite a bit going on on that stovetop, with two types of cuisine bubbling away in three pots and pans.
To our right, we see a pan warming stir-fry noodles and broccoli, while a saucepan behind it holds a sizzling garlic sauce. And to the left, there's a tempting tangle of spaghetti warming up in a pot.
In the background, a voice that we presume belongs to one of Lisa's two daughters announces: "I'm cooking Benihana steak and stir-fry." Another voice pipes up with: "And I made pasta with, it's gonna be lemon-butter sauce." Lisa had just a couple of questions: "Where's the Benihana steak? How do you make a Benihana steak?"
Our sentiments exactly, so we did a little digging. Online recipes suggest making a copycat version of the restaurant's dish by whipping up a marinade of soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, and grated apples. Then, marinate the steak for 30 minutes and fry it up on the grill.
In the meantime, a small kitchen discovery was made. "Did you know that there's something called white pepper?" one of Lisa's daughters asked in the background. "Well, we have it!" Good to know... because white pepper can also be used in steak marinade.
Lisa's daughters also took to Instagram Stories to offer some post-workout snack ideas. Amelia Gray Hamlin whipped up blueberry compote and oats, then topped the cozy dish with cinnamon and almond butter. Meanwhile, her sister, Delilah Belle, shared the ingredients for her post-workout smoothie: almond milk, peanut butter, and chocolate vegan protein powder.
