Kandi Burruss Stuns in a Black-and-White One-Shoulder Gown at the 2023 Tony Awards
The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member paired her gorgeous style with sleek hair and dazzling drop earrings.
In January, Kandi Burruss celebrated a major step in her professional career: She was nominated for a Tony award for her producing work on the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson. “Great way to start 2023!” Kandi captioned an Instagram post celebrating the special honor.
A few months later, in June, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member further celebrated at a luncheon held for nominees, rocking a striking yellow pantsuit for the occasion. “Today was a day full of inspiration! [...] Met so many great people,” Kandi captioned a series of Instagram photos in which she posed with her husband, Todd Tucker, who also served as one of the producers of the play.
For the event, the mom of three rocked an asymmetrical single-breasted blazer ($2,290) and bootcut trousers ($990) by Alexander McQueen, pairing the look with a low side braid by stylist Sew Jodie and yellow diamond drop earrings for a dazzling touch.
Considering her monumental success, it wasn’t surprising that the Grammy-winning singer would show up dressed to impress for the awards ceremony, which was held on June 11. Let’s take a look at the songwriter’s incredible style for the star-studded affair:

Like the star she is, Kandi posed on the red carpet in an elegant black-and-white chiffon gown by Sergio Hudson that featured a black piece draped over her right shoulder, a fitted waist, and other black pieces throughout. “Pray for us!” Kandi captioned an Instagram photo of herself and Todd before the event.
Kandi also credited hairstylist Sew Jodie for her sleek, slicked-back bun and Tae René for some glowing makeup that featured a touch of gorgeous green on her lids. The Atlanta mom accessorized the sophisticated style with stunning black and diamond drop earrings and black-and-white-tipped nails via Imnails Noir.
Kandi also shared the details of Todd’s handsome style for the evening, which included a black tuxedo jacket from Miguel Wilson Collection with velvet lapels and special embroidery . Todd paired the statement piece with black slacks and black brogues.
Did Kandi win at the Tony Awards?
Kandi and Todd didn’t take home the trophy for Best Revival of a Play, as the honor ultimately went to Suzan-Lori Parks’ Topdog/Underdog.
The husband-and-wife producing team, however, can celebrate the production’s other achievements, as Broadway World reported on January 3 that the Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington, and Danielle Brooks–led revival became the “highest grossing August Wilson play” in history.
