In Fiery Letter, French Chef Demands to Be Removed From "Incompetent" Michelin Guide

A top French chef is demanding that he be removed from the guide, which he says maligned his work falsely. Marc Veyrat scored Michelin’s highest honor last year — the coveted three-star rating — for his restaurant La Maison du Bois, located high in the French Alps. But now he’s insisting that the guide remove him because, he says, Michelin “wrongly” accused him of adding British cheddar cheese to a traditional soufflé and docked him a star in January, according to the Telegraph.
Veyrat announced his intention in a letter to the guide, in which he accuses Michelin of “deep incompetence” in its assessment of his work. “They dared say that we put cheddar in our soufflé of roblochon, beaufort and tomme [cheeses],” he said. "They have insulted my region, my staff are furious!”
The guide has refused to comply with his wish to be removed.
He's not the first chef to wish for removal from the Michelin guide; others have requested it, for different reasons.
