Check Out the Lyrics to XSCAPE’S "Do You Want To"

The '90s girl group XSCAPE asked a universal question about love in their hit song "Do You Want To."

Even just saying the title of the XSCAPE hit song “Do You Want To” from the ’90s still oozes sexy!

How to Watch

Catch up on SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B on Peacock or the Bravo App.

That vibe gets seriously multiplied when you factor in the smooth voices and harmonies of Atlanta Housewife Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and sisters Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott-Bivens, who make up the girl-powered quartet.

The supergroup launched by Grammy Award-winning musician Jermaine Dupri are now back in the spotlight. In the Bravo limited series SWV & XSCAPE: The Queens of R&B, airing Sundays at 8/7c, the quartet is featured alongside the three women of SWV, another iconic ‘90s group, as they all prepare for a one-night-only joint concert.

What’s on tap in this collaborative performance is certain to thrill. After all, there are so many hits to choose from, including “Do You Want To,” which was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on March 10, 2023.

The song is the seventh track off XSCAPE’s second platinum album, Off the Hook, which was released in 1995. Tiny takes the lead on the tune.

Let’s rewind to check out what the XSCAPE hit produced by Daryl Simmons had to say — and how the group said it. An R&B Haven review raved that the “Do You Want To” lyrics “are romantic and truly loving.”

The words to the song are also plain-spoken. The opening lines definitely don’t beat around the bush:  “Hey baby, I want to know one thing. Do you want me as much as I want you? Say you do.”

Who can’t relate? Everybody wants to be desired. That was one of the points of this sophomore XSCAPE album.

“Our first album didn’t have any real love songs and we prefer mid-tempo and ballad songs,” Kandi told The Spokesman-Review that year. “So we got to put a lot more of ourselves into this one.”

Then again, there’s nothing like being in love to push all of your buttons: You feel giddy, hopeful, unsteady, everything. The song speaks to this.

Would’ve been a pleasure just to know your name. Oh, look at me, silly me, now I’m back in love again. And there’s nothing you can tell me, nothing you can do. I just hope that you’re in love with me, the way that I’m in love with you.”

Been there, felt that, right? That’s what makes the song so potent. “Do you want to, like I want to, be in love with you?” the song asks.

It concludes with an urgency everybody has experienced. “Now there’s nothing you can tell me, nothing you can say. Promise me you'll stay with me until my dying day.”

Here are the full lyrics to "Do You Want To":

"Hey baby, I wanna know one thing
Do you want me as much as I want you?
Say you do

Never should've kissed ya
Never made that call
I told myself
In love I shouldn't fall
Would've been a pleasure
Just to know your name
Look at me, silly me
Now I'm back in love again

And there's nothing you can tell me
Nothing I can do
I just hope that you're in love with me
The way that I'm in love with you
Do you want to
Like I want to be in love with you?
Say you do
Do you want to
Like I want, I want to make love to you
Say you do

Never understand it
Loving takes control
Oh, I ask myself
Girl, should let it go?
That would be to crazy
Life without you now
Hate to think, ever think
That you won't be around

Now there's something you can show me
Something you can say
Promise me you'll stay with me
Until my dying day

Do you want to (do you want to)
Like I want to be in love with you? (like I want to be in love with you?)
Say you do (say you do)
Do you want to (do you want to make a love, babe?)
Like I want, I want to make love to you (like I want to, like I want to make love to you)
Say you do (say you do)

Now my deep emotions
Have completely come over me
I'm into you, I'm loving you too deep
Oh, yes I am

Should have seen it comin'
Felt my heart beating much too weak
I can't control, I can't let go (I can't control, I can't let go)
Of you baby, you baby, you

Do you want to
Like I want to be in love with you? (like I want to be in love to you)
(Like I want to be in love to you)
Say you do (say you do)
Do you want to (do you want to make a love, babe?)
Like I want, I want to make love to you (like I want to, like I want to make love to you)
Say you do (say you do)

Did it feel good to you, baby
Like it felt good to me
Say you do (say you do)
Do you want it again baby, baby
'Cause I want it right now, yes I do
Say you do (say you do)

Sometimes I cry baby
Sometimes I weep at night, baby
Shake me, take me, tell me you love me, baby (say you do, do you want to)
Say you really, really want me baby (like I want, I want to make love to you)
Sometimes I can't sleep at night (say you do)
'Cause I want you right here by my side
Do you want to (do you want to, like I want to be in love with you)
Say you want to make love to me, baby
Like I do to you"

The women of XSCAPE are no strangers to drama. After  three multi-platinum albums and nearly a decade of success, the group was torn apart by internal strife, though they eventually reunited. And they’re together now on Bravo, where you can get to know much more about them, along with SWV’s Tamara “Taj” Johnson, Leanne “Lelee” Lyons, and Cheryl “Coko” Gamble

Do you want to? You know you do!
