Here's How Jennifer Aydin's Brother Feels About Sharing His Personal Life on RHONJ
The Real Housewives of New Jersey brother gives an update on his relationship with his mom.
We've gotten to know Jennifer Aydin's family like never before this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, especially her brother, Steven Altinel, who has shared his journey in coming out as a gay man, as well as the challenges he has faced in finding acceptance with his mother. Jennifer opens up more about that in The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 10 After Show, above.
Jennifer had some good news about Steven's relationship with their mother during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on February 19. "I think their relationship has evolved and has gotten so much better," she said. "Now we're at a place where if Steven wanted to come with a boyfriend, my mother would be OK with it."
Steven, who served as the guest bartender on WWHL that night, said that was all thanks to his sister. "I would say before the show, it didn't seem like it was even an option," he said. "And now Jennifer's opened the conversation, so it feels great."
Steven also said that he "wasn't" nervous for his personal life to be out there for all the world to see on RHONJ. "I was actually excited for it," he said.
During the WWHL After Show, Steven shed some more light on how appearing on RHONJ has impacted his career as a high school choir teacher. And by that we mean not at all, apparently. "I basically walk into work as if it never existed," Steven said.
If students try to bring up the show with him, Steven said he tries to "steer the conversation in other directions" and "stay professional."
Jennifer also noted that her brother "is a very good, strict teacher" who runs "a very tight ship." "Nothing like me," she said. "He's very disciplined."
