You may have heard the recent buzz about Brie Dupree, an ex-cast member of The Real Housewives of Dallas who was fired from the show after being framed for the disappearance of her twin sister. But if you can't keep up with the scandalous story coming out of the Lone Star state, let Amy Phillips do some explaining.
The comedian (and die-hard Bravo fan) spoke to The Daily Dish podcast about her latest comedic adventure, and, well, let's just say the digital series is going to be your latest Bravo obsession.
The actress and comedian began doing impressions at age 12, but it was her impression of a throwback Bravo star years later that really got her career rolling. "I started doing Rachel Zoe, if you remember Rachel Zoe, from The Rachel Zoe Project, I mean of course, like everybody does, who wouldn’t remember Rachel Zoe? She’s bananas," she said. "But yeah, I’ve always done celebrity impressions and I just decided to do, randomly, Rachel Zoe, along with some other celebrity impressions that I was building a character reel, so I threw her in there and I put the video up on YouTube and I just got a lot of traction off of that one video in particular."
After Watch What Happens Live shared Amy's clip on the show, she fell down the "rabbit hole" of The Real Housewives and all things Bravo. "That’s when I fell in love with all the programming on Bravo."
From there, Amy fine tuned all of her Bravolebrity impressions, from Kate Chastain ("I'm so cool because I was born that way and I live on a yacht!") to Vicki Gunvalson ("Uh, I'm working right now, and I can't talk because I'm working, and I love Steve Lodge!"). And now, her dedication to all things Bravo has led up to her latest venture: Ex-Housewife.
The series centers around Amy's character, Brie Dupree, who was kicked off the third season of RHOD after she became a suspect in the disappearance of her twin sister. She turns to Bravolebs like Sonja Morgan, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Carson Kressley for help to clear her name and get her career back on track. "I’m so excited about this," she said. "It is such a fun series, and if you like Bravolebrities and you want to see them out of their element and acting and in a situation they’re not really in, you have to watch it."
