By Jill Sederstrom

If there’s one Hollywood couple who knows how to successfully navigate romance in the spotlight, it’s actress Holly Robinson Peete and her former NFL star husband, Rodney Peete.

How to Watch

Watch Queens Court Sundays at 9/8c on Bravo and the entire Season 2 on Peacock.

The long-time couple — who once got engaged in front of a live studio audience — have enjoyed wedded bliss for decades and are now using their relationship superpowers to help other deserving celebs find their happily ever after as hosts of the dating show Queens Court.

The Peetes will be back as hosts of Season 2, premiering Oct. 6, 2024, as the reality dating show settles into its new home on Bravo and Peacock. This season, LisaRaye, K. Michelle, and London “Deelishis” Charles will be searching for their king among 22 confident hopefuls — and the Peetes will be helping every step of the way by offering their own sage advice.

“When a guy does that, it tells you there’s something under the surface they don’t want you to see,” Holly told one queen in a trailer for the new season, for example.

So, just who are the power couple leading the women to love? Here’s everything we know about Queens Court Season 2 hosts Holly and Rodney:

Who is Queens Court host Holly Robinson Peete?

As an actress, producer, author, and philanthropist, there isn’t much Holly doesn’t do. The versatile star got her big break in acting in 1987 when she landed the role of Det. Judy Hoffs on the hit police drama 21 Jump Street. From there, she’s appeared on tv shows like Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, For Your Love, Like Family, Love, Inc., and Chicago Fire, according to her IMDB bio

Holly has also made a name for herself appearing in holiday movies and the mystery series Morning Show Mysteries on Hallmark Mystery.

Who is Queens Court host Rodney Peete?

Holly’s other half, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, spent 16 seasons in the NFL. After starting his career with the Detroit Lions, Rodney went on to play for the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, Raiders, and Carolina Panthers, according to The Athletic. During his lengthy career, he threw for a total of 16,338 yards and was credited with 76 touchdowns.

Rodney may have retired from the NFL in 2004, but his career was just getting started. Since then, he’s gone on to host The Best Damn Sports Show Period, and hilariously appeared on an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, where comedian Margaret Cho memorably handcuffed him.

Today, he hosts the sports podcast “Lunchtime” with Roggin and Rodney.

How Did Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete Meet?

Holly and Rodney first met after being introduced by a friend, according to The New York Times, but it wasn’t love at first sight. It took a few more encounters before Holly agreed to give the professional football star a first date.

As they told Essence, their first date took place at an L.A. supper club in the early 1990s. Rodney was smitten the moment he saw Holly put hot sauce on her fries.

“I knew she felt comfortable around me as she stuffed her face with food,” he joked.

The couple memorably got engaged in front of a live studio audience in 1994 after Rodney surprised his future bride by dropping by the set of Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, wearing an all-white suit.

“They say a good woman is hard to find and when you find one you got to hold onto her,” Rodney said as the audience swooned in a clip posted on X by Holly in 2022, before dropping to his knee to propose.

The couple married the next year and welcomed four children together, twins Ryan and Rodney Jr., along with Robinson and Roman.

When Rodney Jr. was diagnosed with autism as a toddler, the couple became fierce advocates for autism awareness, using their non-profit HollyRod Foundation to spread their message.

“I wouldn’t change my son for the world, but I would change the world for my son,” Holly said of her mission on the organization’s website.

Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete Share Marriage Secrets

After nearly three decades of marriage, Holly and Rodney know what it takes to make a relationship work.

They shared the secrets to their success with Essence in 2020, crediting their commitment to fight life’s battles together and ability to work as a team as driving factors in their unbreakable bond.

“What made me most comfortable with Rodney was that he was not threatened by the fact that I had my own life and money,” Holly shared. “Many guys, certainly in sports, are threatened by that. But he liked that.”

Rodney agreed the couple has never taken on traditional gender roles.

“Society tells us you’re less of a man if your wife is more successful. I don’t buy into any of that,” he said. “If I’ve got to take the kids to practice or a concert because she’s on the road filming, I have no problem with that, because it’s a partnership and a family.”

The couple has also worked with a counselor throughout their relationship and adopted a “20-second hug” — even if their mad at each other — to refocus their energy.

“It seemed so trivial at first,” he said. “But after doing it, I see the benefit. We may get bad news or may be disagreeing and decide to hug. It reminds me I have a partner in everything. You can’t turn it down. That’s the rule.”

As for their role as love experts on Queens Court? Holly told Black Enterprise’s “Inside the Studio” ahead of the first season that the couple was happy to share the advice they’ve learned along the way.

“You know when they asked us to do this, I thought, you know, Rodney and I would be good at this. We’ve been married for 150 years, right? We’ve been up, we’ve been down, we’ve had all kinds of issues but we’re still here,” Holly said.

“Rodney and I get in there and we give advice,” she continued of their role on the show. “We do a little couple’s counseling, even though we are not certified counselors, but we talk to them because we care. We were very invested in these women finding love.”
