What Ever Happened to Jonathan Antin?
The 'Blow Out' star has opened a hot new hair salon and is plotting a TV comeback.
Looking back at our shows, we often wonder about the people who've left. Where did they go when their moment in the Bravo spotlight was over? What are they up to now? Each week, we'll be looking into the lives of one of these familiar faces. Today, it's Jonathan Antin from Blow Out and Sheer Genius.
Style-savvy viewers will remember Jonathan Antin as the celebrity hairstylist who threw tantrums, shed tears and even allowed cameras to document his therapy sessions as he launched his eponymous salons and successful hair-care line during three seasons of Blow Out starting back in 2004. "I'm a little bit crazy and I don't let anything get in my way," he told People. "I don't mind if they show me yelling and screaming and kicking, because that's what it takes to make it happen."
Jonathan—who's also the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin and actor/director Steve Antin—came back to Bravo as a judge on Season 3 of Shear Genius. Then, in 2010, he headed to NBC's The Biggest Loser during its 10th season to give makeovers to the final six contestants.
These days, he's just as brash and successful as ever. He sold the two Los Angeles salons that were featured on his old Bravo show, and after a few years of making high-priced house calls, he's back with a new space in Beverly Hills. In January 2013, he opened Jonathan and George salon with expert colorist Amanda George. Their salon's A-list clients include Victoria Beckham, Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Garner, Rita Ora, Patrick Dempsey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Zooey Deschanel, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
But Jonathan is more than a hair mogul—he's also a devoted dad. Blow Out viewers met his then-infant son Asher on Season 3 (he's 9 now!), and in 2007, the celebrity hair stylist and wife Sescie welcomed their second child, a daughter named Jocie. "My blood," proud dad Jonathan—who coaches Asher's basketball team—captioned an Instagram snapshot of his adorable kids in December.
In February 2015, Jonathan popped up on Millionaire Matchmaker to offer advice to fellow hairstylist-to-the-stars (and Patti Stanger's client) A.J. Johnson. He's also been all over Twitter lately, where he hosts monthly hour-long hair-advice Q&As for salon business software company MINDBODY Salon (he's its spokesman).
But perhaps the most exciting news of late is that Jonathan is planning his TV comeback. "2015 TV Goals: Bigger, better, stronger, faster than ever before," Jonathan—who's been filming scenes for a new show he has in development in recent weeks—tweeted in January. "And MUCH more dramatic, if it's even possible."
