Why Raquel Leviss Broke Down Crying in Front of Ariana Madix
The two shared an emotional conversation on the May 3 episode of Vanderpump Rules.
It’s Raquel Leviss’ birthday and she’ll cry if she wants to — and she did just that on the May 3 episode of Vanderpump Rules.
The tears came as Raquel was celebrating alongside Scheana Shay, Brock Davies, Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, and Tom Sandoval, and talk of her career came up. “Now that I’m 28, I’m gonna get my sh-t together,” she began. “I just feel like a little bit of pressure from my parents because they’re like, ‘What are you doing with your life?’”
Raquel went on to explain that she was feeling particularly lost now that she had “aged out” of the pageant circuit (and to make matters worse, it was before she could accomplish her “big dream” of being named Miss California). “I made sure that every aspect of my life was consistent, where I wasn’t gonna f-ck up,” she said. “I think my entire life plan was written out for me at a very young age, and that scares me.”
She began crying at that point, and it was Ariana who rushed to comfort her. “You going through those things and getting through that and being you is, I think, even more something that is role model behavior,” Ariana told her.
This, in turn, prompted Raquel to look on the bright side. As she explained in a confessional interview, “I’ve always been the good girl, but now that I’ve aged out of pageants, I don’t have to worry so much about my reputation. So, honestly, I feel like I’m kind of making up for lost time right now.”
The birthday celebration resumed from there as Sandoval and Ariana presented her with their gift: vintage 1990 Versace sunglasses. Schwartz, meanwhile, didn’t get Raquel anything, but she joked a kiss would suffice.
The group was on a “glamping” trip, and they ended the night by dancing around their tent in the glow of Raquel’s infamous galaxy light. “This is everything I could ever want for a birthday,” she told the group as she teared up again. “It’s incredible.”
“We love you, Raquel,” Ariana said, with Sandoval echoing the comment. “You deserve to have a good birthday.”
“It’s a f-cking dream, you guys,” she concluded.
