Katie Maloney Apologizes to Scheana Shay
Could the Vanderpump Rules pair be ready to make amends?
Katie Maloney and Scheana Shay certainly weren’t on good terms on Vanderpump Rules’ April 12 episode, but now the two seem to be on the road to reconciliation.
Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix’s breakup was the catalyst for ending the feud, as Lala Kent said they were all “putting things aside, anybody who had differences” in order to “rally around” Ariana. In the weeks since then, Katie and Scheana have not only called for a cease-fire, but they’ve even been spotted hanging out together.
“They did a DJ gig together for ‘Emo Nite,’” Lala shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on April 12. “I feel like slowly but surely my plan is working to get them back together.”
The same day Lala appeared on WWHL, Katie took to her Instagram Stories to address certain comments she made about Scheana and Brock Davies’ wedding on the newest episode of Vanderpump Rules. “I just want to say the things that you didn’t hear me say, because I thought it was a beautiful ceremony. I loved the bridesmaid’s colored dresses [and] I loved Scheana’s dress,” Katie explained. “And when I said I could cry, it was because the song choice that she walked out to was ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and I thought that was just perfect for the setting and everything. When I got back inside and said ‘Weddings are beautiful, but not this one,’ I was going through a lot.”
Katie also referenced a comment she made about Scheana reusing the officiant who married her and Mike Shay almost a decade ago — but not before Scheana took it upon herself to explain. “[It]’s not odd that the same person married me [in my wedding to Brock] because the person who married us is my cousin, David,” Scheana said in an Instagram Story. “[David], sorry other cousins, is always my favorite cousin.”
This led Katie to explain in her own Story, “The thing with weddings is that they are personal and people always wanna weigh in and have comments and say, ‘That’s not what I would do,’ or they want to pick things apart. I wasn’t necessarily trying to pick things apart, I was just being observant. And I’m not making excuses. I didn’t mean it as an insult and I apologize for that.”
“I think whatever’s gonna make your day special and meaningful to you, you absolutely should do that regardless of what anyone thinks,” Katie concluded. “That’s always my advice. Be ruthless, don’t give a f--k about what people think or how they’re gonna feel about your day.”
Lala shared a similar sentiment on WWHL. “I kind of loved it,” she said of Scheana’s officiant decision. “It was the exact same guy, but she made jokes about it… Cool, I dig it.”
