Tom Schwartz Discusses His Brother's Cancer Battle

While chatting about the end of his marriage to Katie Maloney during the May 24 episode (Episode 16, Season 10 of Vanderpump Rules), he addressed the many personal matters he was dealing with at that time, calling it "the most intense moment of my life" during which he dealt with "almost losing my father, my brother [Brandon] with cancer, running out of money. I was f-cking in it."

He did add, however, that he wouldn't have wanted Katie to stay in their marriage at that time out of "pity."

It's not the first time Tom spoke about his family's recent ups and downs. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in April, Tom also addressed those issues when talking about the drama in the wake of Tom Sandoval's affair with Raquel Leviss coming to light and when he knew about it all and how it affected how he handled everything at that time.

"I was going through some real-life, high-stakes stuff. I was in the middle of a divorce, I was going bankrupt, my dad almost died, my brother got cancer… I'm not morally bankrupt, I was consumed in my own little world. And maybe I should have been more proactive about it," he said during the Clubhouse appearance. "In my defense, I did tell Tom exactly what he needed to do. He agreed, and then he didn't do it."

An Update on Tom Schwartz's Brother

Back in September 2022, Tom took to Instagram to share an update on Brandon's cancer journey, sharing, "My brother Brando got his hair back post chemo. Send this man some love." Katie did just that commenting on the post with several heart emojis.

In March, Tom posted a sweet tribute to his triplet brothers (Brandon is one of them!), writing, "HAPPY BDAY TO MY DEAR BROTHERS. The trips. The 3 Amigos. The boys. Love you all."

When The Daily Dish spoke to Tom back in 2017, he spilled all about his brothers, which you can check out for yourself above.

Back in 2017, Tom didn't hold back about his brothers, who are among a handful of siblings, including their sister as well as two half sisters and a half brother.

"The ballad of Billy, Bert, and Brandon. They're the best. I love my brothers so much," he told us about William, Robert, and Brandon, at the time. "They're such sweet kids. They have such a great dynamic. It's a dynamic that only triplets can have. They have so much history and chemistry."

He continued, "They're like the three stooges and I mean that in an endearing way, not in a judgmental way. I love hanging out with them. It's non-stop entertainment and they have huge hearts. They're such good kids. I like to bust their balls. I do give them a hard time, but ultimately I love them."

As for the fact that they are triplets, well, Tom noted, "They didn't fully utilize the fact that they were triplets because in the beginning, they did look identical," he recalled. "They weren't technically identical, but they looked identical for a long [time], but now their weights have fluctuated a little bit or they have different facial hair. They're really easy to distinguish now."
