Tom Colicchio Makes a Sweet Tribute to His Late Father During the Top Chef 13 Finale
#TopChef's tough head judge showed a softer side during the end of the competition.
There were many emotional moments during Thursday night's Top Chef 13 finale, but one of the most unexpected was when Tom Colicchio shared that he lost his father right before he took his first job as a chef, and he connected with finalist Amar Santana, who also lost his dad at a young age.
The Top Chef head judge opened up about his late father a little bit more during the show's finale Thursday, which would have been his 80th birthday. Tom paid tribute to his dad by posting a throwback photo of him as a young man on Mobypicture.com. You can totally see the resemblance.
Tom's father, who worked as a barber before becoming a corrections officer, was actually the one who inspired him to become a chef when he was a teenager. "It's probably one of the few times I listened to him," Tom told ABC News in 2008.
We're sure glad he did.
