'The Simpsons' Out of Work? Bravo's Got Some Openings

A dozen ideas for our favorite characters.

By Colleen Werthmann

The idea of The Simpsons finally ending its candy-colored run put a chill in the spine of many a pop culture connoisseur this week. But if Marge, Homer, Bumblebee Man and the rest of Springfield find themselves scrambling to the unemployment line, we'll be here to help.

It's been widely reported that Fox wants the show's voice talent to take a 45 percent pay cut to keep the costly show afloat into a 24th season next year. The actors proposed a smaller cut and a piece of the show's backend revenue (from syndication, merchandising, etc). And now The Wrap reports that even if the dispute is settled, next season will likely be the show's last.

Is all of this posturing simply a negotiating ploy? Or are two decades of Springfieldian shenanigans really about to come to a close? Only time will tell, but should our four-fingered friends find themselves in need of new gigs, we have a few suggestions:

Moe: Andy Cohen's personal bartender (provided, of course, that Andy doesn't want anything more complicated than a shot or a beer).

Lisa: Jeff Lewis' next assistant. Perhaps an eternally patient pacifist is the way to go.

Maggie: Product tester on Pregnant in Heels. Isn't it about time she got a little pampering?

Krusty the Clown: Patti Stanger's greatest challenge on Millionaire Matchmaker. We would pay to see this happen every single week.

Apu: Client on Million Dollar Listing. Surely, a lifetime of peddling overpriced Squishees has left him with a decent nest egg.

Marge: Chris March's muse and confidante on Mad Fashion. Oh, the things he could do with that blue hair.

Bart: Client on Tabatha's Salon Takeover, because that boy will definitely need help with the attitude and the hair.

Mr. Burns: Guest on Rocco's Dinner Party. Just save room for the frozen pudding wagon.

Smithers: Three words -- Most Eligible: Springfield.

Patty & Selma: Guest judges on Top Chef. Those disapproving scowls could do some serious damage at Judges' Table.

Comic Book Guy: BravoTV.com blogger. Worst. Dish. Ever.

Homer: Application denied.
