Is Kandi Burruss Night Angel on The Masked Singer? We Finally Have the Answer
The celebrity singing competition just crowned its Season 3 winner.
The newest champion of The Masked Singer has been crowned, and this celebrity is definitely a familiar face.
After wowing the the crowd with her stirring rendition of Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High," the mystery celebrity known as Night Angel took home the Golden Mask Trophy in The Masked Singer Season 3 finale on May 20. When it came time for the judges to give their final guesses for who they thought was behind the mask, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy both guessed Kandi Burruss, Ken Jeong said Keisha Campbell, and Nicole Scherzinger thought it could be Taraji P. Henson.
Night Angel finally removed her mask to reveal that the beautiful belt we'd been hearing the whole season belonged to none other than Kandi! "It feels incredible," Kandi said of becoming the first female winner of The Masked Singer after the reveal.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta mogul also told host Nick Cannon that being a part of this competition has helped restore her confidence in her singing. "For a long time, I really stopped singing by myself, because, you know, you get negative feedback, and it messes with your head," Kandi shared. "So I had really stopped, and I just really appreciate you guys for helping me build my confidence back up."
Kandi beat out her fellow The Masked Singer Season 3 finalists runner-up Turtle, who was really Jesse McCartney, and third place Frog, who turned out to be Bow Wow. T-Pain (as Monster) and Wayne Brady (as Fox) won Seasons 1 and 2 of The Masked Singer, respectively.
Of course, it's no surprise that Kandi would take home the top title in Season 3 of The Masked Singer. Kandi is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter known for being one-fourth of the group Xscape, her own solo career, and penning some of the biggest hits around, like TLC's "No Scrubs."
In fact, Kandi just dropped her latest single "Used to Love Me" featuring Todrick Hall and Precious earlier this week.
Kandi previously addressed the speculation that she was Night Angel on The Masked Singer during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home on April 19. "People ask me that all. The. Time. But you know what, this is what I have to say about it. Season 1, they thought I was on the show, they thought I was somebody. Season 2, they kept guessing my name. And now they're doing the same thing for Season 3," she explained via video chat. "I didn't talk about it Season 1, Season 2, and I ain't doing it for Season 3. You're just going to have to watch their show."
Kandi couldn't contain her excitement over winning Season 3 of The Masked Singer on social media. "I finally can stop keeping secrets!!!!!" she exclaimed on Instagram on May 20. "I’m so thankful for this opportunity to be on @maskedsingerfox [and] I’m extremely excited to represent women [and] win the trophy!"
Not only did Kandi get lots of love from her fellow Atlanta Housewives on her win in the comments to the above post, but also everyone from The Masked Singer judges to Michelle Williams, who competed as Butterfly in Season 2 of the singing competition, to Andy Cohen to Kandi's husband Todd Tucker expressed how proud they are of her accomplishment.
Kandi thanked everyone for their support during the season, even before she could confirm that she was on The Masked Singer. "Thank you to everyone who’s sent a supportive tweet about me being on #TheMaskedSinger!" she tweeted. "I wasn’t able to respond but I would see them [and I'm] so grateful."
