Teresa Giudice Thinks She Inspired This Orange Is the New Black Character
"They made a character that is just like me," the #RHONJ author said.
Teresa Giudice served 11 months at FCI Danbury in Connecticut, the same prison where Piper Kerman served time, which she detailed in her bestselling memoir Orange Is the New Black. But that's not the only similarity The Real Housewives of New Jersey mom has found with the OITNB universe.
The hit series based on that book returned to Netflix for Season 4 last month and introduced a new inmate named Judy King, a celebrity domestic goddess who's the talk of the prison and a target for the paparazzi played by actress Blair Brown. Though OITNB creator Jenji Kohan has said that Judy is based on Martha Stewart, who spent time in prison in 2004 for obstructing justice, Teresa recently told The New York Daily News that she thinks the character bares a striking resemblance to her life.
"They made a character that is just like me. They probably read my book," Teresa said of her New York Times bestselling memoir Turning the Tables, which was released in February.
Like Judy, Teresa was a high-profile inmate at the real-life Danbury, which earned her the nickname "Hollywood" while in prison, she told The Daily News. However, Teresa's newfound affinity for yoga while in prison actually might make her more similar to Judy's roommate nicknamed Yoga Jones, who is played by Constance Shulman in the series. Andy Cohen has given the RHONJ mom her very own zen nickname, after all, "Namaste Teresa."
But does Teresa have the same moves as Yoga Jones? Watch her get her yoga on, below.
