Here's What's Changed Since the Giudice Family's Last Trip to Italy in Season 2
What's different for the RHONJ family this time around? In a word, everything.
On the Season 10 finale of The Real Housewives of New Jersey the Giudice girls, Teresa Giudice and her daughters, Gia, 19, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10, head to Italy to reunite with Joe Giudice, who is currently living in his family's hometown of Sala Consilina as he awaits a final decision in his deportation case. The reunion will definitely be emotional for the Giudices, who haven't been able to be together as a family since Joe went to prison nearly four years ago — and it's also fraught with new challenges, such as do Joe and Teresa sleep in the same bed?
Of course, this wasn't the Giudice family's first trip to Italy together. Way back in Season 2 of RHONJ, they took a trip to the motherland some 10 years ago — when Milania was celebrating her 4th birthday and Audriana was just an infant! The families first started out with a cruise to Naples, and then headed to Venice and Sala Consilina. So let's explore how this trip in 2019 differs from the trip in 2010 — starting with the company with them.
You may recall it wasn't just the Giudices on that trip: Caroline and Al Manzo, and Jacqueline Laurita, Chris Laurita, and their sons, as well as relatives from each of the families, all came with them. Well, things have definitely changed in those friendships: Teresa and Caroline's friendship started to crumble in Season 4 following some controversial cookbook passages (although the two recently set aside their differences to star in a Super Bowl commercial) and Teresa and Jacqueline's longtime friendship imploded following an explosive dinner in Vermont in Season 7, and they were never able to quite get back on track.
Additionally, Joe and Teresa both lost loved ones since the trip: Although both sets of parents were able to accompany them on the Season 2 trip to Italy, Joe's father, Frank Giudice, passed in 2014 and Teresa's mother Antonia Gorga passed in 2017.
The trip also happened before the bulk of the Giudices' legal issues: Neither Joe nor Teresa had served time in prison at that point, or had been charged with federal crimes, which happened in 2013.
At the time of the Season 2 trip, Joe and Teresa were traveling from New Jersey together with their four daughters. Now, it is Teresa and the girls coming from New Jersey to visit Joe in Italy. Additionally, Joe and Teresa are now reported to be separated, and Teresa stayed behind to care for her father for Christmas while their daughters spent the holiday with Joe in Italy.
The Giudice family's second trip to Italy as a family of six all goes down on the Season 10 finale of RHONJ, which you can check out at the top and below.
