Teddi Mellencamp Shares a Major Update on Her Kids: "It's a Big Day"
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum provided a glimpse into Slate and Cruz's lives today.
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave has passed her riding skills on to her daughter. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shares frequent updates about Slate's life as a competitive equestrian, but her latest update is particularly "big."

Teddi's daughter Slate's horse shows update
In a series of Instagram Stories, the podcast co-host shared a photo of her daughter riding in a competition at Brookway Stables. The proud mama annotated the post with emojis showing silver and gold medals. Later, she shared a video of her and Slate riding together and had a big announcement to make about what Slate was wearing under her riding helmet.
"It's a big day for Slate because she convinced me that she no longer wants to use my recycled hair nets," Teddi shared with a smile."[She] wants her own brown hair net [under her riding helmet]. She says she has brown hair and she doesn't want to use mommy's stinky hair nets anymore. Let's see how this works out. I don't even recognize her at the show."
Previously, Teddi revealed how horseback riding has been a positive influence in her daughter's life. Last December, the RHOBH alum posted an Instagram carousel that showed her and Slate at a competition while fully decked out in riding gear. Teddi not only applauded Slate’s athletic achievements but also called out the life skills she has picked up from the sport.
“It teaches growth,” Teddi wrote in the December 10 post. “Sure, my mini-me could ride circles around me when I was her age. But outside of her skills, Slate has developed a grit, a tenacity, an endurance that mix with a kindness and lasting friendships she wouldn’t have found anywhere else."
Teddi's post continued: "“Maybe most importantly, she’s found the ability to laugh, to find the positive when things don’t go her way,” she continued in the post, which also featured a photo of Slate next to her horse and her second-place ribbon. “Because while Slate is beyond talented, she’s not beyond a loss. We aren’t always winners; that’s a fact. I’ve found that developing a fight and resilience at a young age will carry you through life, allowing you to pick yourself up and continue to push for your goals. I love seeing my Angel adopt this life-lesson.”

Meanwhile, Slate's not the only sporty one in Teddi's clan. The L.A. mom also shared a new video of her son Cruz on January 28, and the video found him in deep NFL-watching mode. As he took in a football game on TV, the little one was clutching a football in his hands.

In another Instagram Stories post from Monday, Jan. 29, Teddi shared a moment of her getting in some mom-and-daughter time with Dove. The pair do love hanging out and Teddi isn't shy to post those moments. Why? "Just posting this here so I can show Teenage Dove when she wants nothing to do with me."
