Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Almost Had an Even More Unique First Name
Kyle Richards also reveals her parents' surprising inspiration for her first name.
Before Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in Season 8, we had never met a Housewife with that first name. But believe it or not, there was a chance we would have had to refer to her by an even more one-of-a-kind moniker.
Teddi revealed the other name her parents, John Mellencamp and Victoria Granucci, were considering before she was born during Tuesday night's episode of RHOBH. "Well, my name was supposed to be Babydoll," Teddi told the group, prompting everyone to drop their jaws on their night out during the girls' trip to the Bahamas. "Like, it was between Babydoll and Teddi Jo, but my mom had me when my dad was still on tour."
So her mom went with Teddi Jo, and the accountability coach is certainly glad she did. "Sometimes I imagine what my life would be like if Babydoll was my name," Teddi wrote in her latest blog on Bravotv.com. "And then I go to therapy."
This anecdote also prompted Teddi to share some adorable photos of herself as a baby, and we're so glad she did.
The subject of names came up during the episode when Dorit Kemsley mentioned that she and her siblings all have names that begin with the letter D: Dorit, her sister Debbie, and her brother David. "The only one that has an unusual name is me," Dorit joked.
Kyle also shared where her parents, Kathleen and Kenneth Richards, got the inspiration for her name, thinking that she was going to be a boy. "I was named after Kyle Rote, a football player," she explained.
Kyle Rote Sr. played as a receiver for the New York Giants from 1951 to 1961. He passed away in 2002.
Kyle was the third child in her family whose name begins with the letter K. RHOBH fans are well-acquainted with Kyle's sisters, Kathy Hilton and Kim Richards.
What will be revealed in an all-new episode of RHOBH on Tuesday at 9/8c? Check out a sneak peek, below.
