Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave Details the Whole Story of Her Daughter’s Finger Injury
"She is healing nicely from her last skin graft surgery," the RHOBH mom shared.
Several weeks after she first opened up about her 7-year-old daughter, Slate, injuring her finger, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is offering more insight into the injury and how it's being treated on Instagram.
"Yesterday during my Insta[gram] Q&A I was flooded with people asking for updates and questions on what happened to Slate Angels finger. Seven weeks ago she was following me outside while I took the trash out and a gust of wind came and the front door slammed on her finger and amputated the tip," she wrote. Previously Teddi had noted that the injury had occurred when she “smashed her finger in the door.”
Almost two months after the incident, Teddi offered an update on Slate's treatment and recovery and noted, "she is healing nicely from her last skin graft surgery and I am beyond grateful to @childrensla and Dr. Seruya. She has blown me away during this entire time."
Teddi reflected on how the experience affected her as a mom: "My heart hurt like I couldn’t imagine seeing her in pain, questioning unknowns, watching her learn to write with her other hand and not being able to play with her sisters and brother like she is used to. Even though I was heart broken and trying to hide my tears SHE was strong, loving, kind and grateful for what she could do. Every night when she prayed she thanked God for keeping her safe. She looked at it like a challenge to be able to answer her school Zoom questions using her left hand and she cheered on her siblings for learning how to pogo jump, she became an expert at chess and I have never been more proud of what a sweet lovebug she is. Our family learned a lot from Slate these past 7 weeks," Teddi said. "We love you Deezy."
Previously The Daily Dish spoke to Dr. Paul Nassif, who Teddi reached out to following the injury. "I didn't even know she posted something. She's a very sweet lady and, obviously, they needed some recommendations and I was able to help and get them to the right doctors," Dr. Nassif shared in a phone interview back in May. "She was very sweet, by the way. Anything I can do to help, obviously especially with my connections, I'd better use them."
