Amanda Batula Reveals Why She Doesn’t Want to Change Her Last Name to Cooke
The Summer House cast member has a very crafty reason for sticking with her maiden name instead of taking on Kyle Cooke’s last name.
Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke tied the knot on September 25, 2021. Nearly two years later, the Summer House lovebirds are going strong. They have a New York City home together, they run a business together, and they share two adorable dogs, Reese and Ryder.
One thing they don’t share is a last name. Amanda is still going by Amanda Batula, rather than Amanda Cooke. And she has a very crafty reason why.
Amanda Batula reveals why she’s keeping her maiden name
Amanda and her Hamptons housemate Paige DeSorbo were recently interviewed on the CoDependent podcast, which is hosted by their castmates Mya Allen and Ciara Miller. The gang got to talking about their summertime antics on national TV.
“Do you ever think, because we’re on reality TV, how what we’re doing now is going to impact [our kids]?” Paige mused.
Oh yes, Amanda has thought about it. And she has a clever plan in place. “That’s half the reason I don’t want to change my last name,” the Loverboy creative replied. “I need every article that’s written about me to [identify me as] Amanda Batula. And then when my kids come out, [I’ll be] Amanda Cooke to them, and they try to google their mom [and won’t find anything].”
Smart plan! Listen to Amanda’s logic play out in the clip below.
Amanda’s Fertility Journey
Amanda has opened up before about her desire to potentially have children. On Season 7 of Summer House, viewers saw her talk about her fertility journey. In the clip above, Amanda shares a candid update on her health journey.
“I did go to my doctor in January, who told me that if by May I don’t get my period, I should go back to the doctor,” she reveals before going to a fertility appointment. “Obviously May has come and gone.”
In the clip, Amanda also opens up about where she and Kyle stand regarding parenthood. “We’re not ready to start trying to have kids just yet,” she says. “But my friends know how nervous I am. So being able to [go to a fertility appointment] with my friends is making me feel more comfortable. This is the perfect next step for me.”
On Episode 13 of Season 7, Amanda shared that she had met with a doctor and discovered an issue with low estrogen.
Amanda and Kyle’s Current Focus
Though Amanda is taking her fertility seriously, she reiterated to Glamour that she and Kyle aren’t in a rush to have children. During an interview with the magazine, the creative director said, “We’re both not ready to have kids.”
Instead, the two were focused on the growth of Loverboy.
