6 Things You Didn’t See at the Project Runway Finale
Get the inside scoop on all of the behind-the-scenes Project Runway secrets you didn't get to see on camera.
With so much happening to prepare for the runway, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes at Project Runway. From mini-me dolls to family visits, we want to fill you in on the exciting happenings you didn't see during the show. Not only that, but while the Project Runway designers were busy working on their final collections, an audience full of fashion icons, celebs, and Project Runway alums were in the audience waiting to see the designers' final pieces.
Scroll down to find out who was there, learn interesting facts about the day, and get the scoop on the gorgeous venue where the show took place.
1. Celeb Guests
For the finale, celeb and fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg served as a guest judge. Celebrity stylist Marni Senofonte also made an appearance and even gave the designers some advice before the show. But you probably didn't spot Broadway actor John Eric Parker and sports stylist Rachel Johnson, who were also cheering on the designers that day.
2. Project Runway Alums
Are you a Project Runway superfan? If so, you'll recognize past contestants (and winners!) who were supporting the current cast. Jay McCarroll, the winner of the first season, lent his support. He was joined by Nick Verreos, Korto Momolu, Mondo Guerra, Kelly Dempsey, Casanova, and Uli Herzner. And of course we can't forgot about Season 4 winner and Season 17 mentor, Christian Siriano!
3. The Venue
The gorgeous venue for the showcase, One Hanson Place, is a former bank located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. The exterior is landmarked and also includes the Williamsburg Savings Bank Clock Tower. It's so beautiful that famous designer Alexander Wang once had a fashion show there, and it was even used as a location for the film John Wick 3: Parabellum.
4. Brandon Maxwell's Mom Attended
Judge Brandon Maxwell had a special reason to be excited for the showcase. His mom, Pam Woolley, was in the audience supporting her son and the designers. We can't think of a cooler mother-son date than the epic finale!
5. Marni Senofonte's Tiny Barbie
Marni Senofonte brought a tiny Barbie version of herself to the taping! To top it off, Marni dressed the doll up just like her. She brought the same doll to the CFDA Awards, but the doll never made it into the show.
6. The Real Women
All six "real women" who appeared in Episode 11 of this season came to support the designers. It's amazing to see how fashion can authentically connect our Project Runway stars to the real women they are designing for.
And the judges are spilling even more secrets about each other in the video below:
