Monique Samuels Explains Why She "Wasn't Remorseful" Immediately After the Winery Incident
The Real Housewives of Potomac ladies look back on that conversation at Karen Huger's home.
When Monique Samuels sat down with The Real Housewives of Potomac ladies at Karen Huger's house following the incident at the winery, she expressed that she had no remorse in at that moment.
Monique elaborated on that statement and described the days after the incident during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on October 4 (clip above). "At that moment, I wasn't remorseful. At that moment, I was still trying to figure out everything. My adrenaline was still pumping," Monique explained, sharing that after the incident, she immediately "went home and I went back to mommy mode."
"I have three kids I have to take care of, I have a whole husband here. I have businesses I was still running, a live podcast I was planning... So my mind had to calm down to the point where I actually could take it all in."
She said that she still hadn't fully processed everything by the time she spoke to her fellow Potomac Housewives. "When I met with the ladies, I still hadn't taken it in. I wanted to meet with them to simply apologize to them for putting them in harm's way," Monique said. "Did the remorse come later? Absolutely. But at that moment, I was being 100 percent real with them, and I did not feel it at that moment."
Candiace Dillard Bassett, who was not present at that gathering at Karen's home, said during The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 After Show that she was surprised when she later heard about Monique's comments. "This person has said out loud to a group, to an audience that she is not remorseful. I don't even have vocabulary for that," Candiace said in the below clip. "I didn't believe it."
Gizelle Bryant said that she also wasn't expecting Monique to react this way while meeting with the rest of the group. "I thought that she was at least gonna be remorseful enough so that we would feel comfortable continuing going down this road with her," Gizelle said during the After Show.
Wendy Osefo said in the After Show that she was also not receptive to Monique's explanation of the events at the winery. "All of these ladies have verbally gone back-and-forth with each other," she shared in the After Show. "There is no excuse for the physical altercation, and that's where I stake my fork in the sand and say, 'No, you cannot sell this to me.'"
