Meredith Marks Shares New Details About What Led to Her Falling-Out with Lisa Barlow
Meredith said she isn’t moving forward with Lisa because “an apology that has excuses attached to it is not an apology.”
Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow fell out over a hot mic moment on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 2, but things couldn’t be colder between the two now.
Although Lisa apologized to Meredith at the Season 2 reunion, and again during the group trip to Arizona on Season 3, Meredith isn’t fully ready to move on.
During the November 2 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, a fan asked Meredith why she was able to forgive Jen Shah but couldn’t do the same with her onetime best friend, Lisa.
“As you saw, I gave her a hug in Arizona,” Meredith said before noting that she was, at that point, “looking forward” to seeing where things would go. However, she felt like she still couldn’t understand why Lisa said what she said.
“She refused to explain the behavior, like the underlying causes. She refused to give me any reassurance that it wouldn’t really happen again, other than saying, ‘I won’t do it again,’” the jewelry designer added.
While Meredith was initially willing to let time heal the wounds from the hot mic moment, she didn’t believe it was the “first time” Lisa had said something about her and her family.
“I was very open. There was a lot more that unfolded after, and it was not the first time…” Brooks Marks’ mom explained. “I’m done with it. I’m disengaging from Lisa Barlow at this point, because she’s continued to make excuses for her behavior. An apology that has excuses attached to it is not an apology.”
The RHOSLC cast member said she has heard from her friends and Lisa’s friends that the Vida Tequila founder “has had a lot to say about [her] prior to that.”
Before Meredith could fully disengage from the conversation, Lisa sounded off on the WWHL episode on Twitter.
“This is all lies,” she tweeted. “[Meredith Marks,] you’re lying.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Meredith did explain how she was able to get to a good place with Jen.
“I felt like she needed support, and I felt like I had a level of understanding of where she was coming from,” Meredith said. “When you have understanding, you have acceptance. She gave me that.”
