Marysol Patton Defends Her RHUGT Text "Wishing" Leah McSweeney Was Still Drinking
Marysol Patton shared more context on her messages to castmate Leah McSweeney before the two arrived in Thailand during Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
A comment about being “bored” led to a contentious discussion about alcohol and The Real Housewives of New York City’s Leah McSweeney’s sobriety on the new season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, streaming on Peacock.
Now, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Marysol Patton is clarifying a text she sent to Leah and what her intentions were on a new episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
It all started when Leah said she was “bored” with Miami 'Wife Alexia Nepola’s story about her former husband while at dinner in Thailand, rubbing some of the ladies the wrong way. Leah also suggested the Housewives should get drunk at the dinner, prompting The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Gizelle Bryant to ask while on a yacht the next day, “Oh, we’re not entertaining unless we’re drunk?”
“That’s what I’m used to people saying to me because before this trip even started, Marysol texted me, like, ‘I really respect you for not drinking, blah blah blah, but I wish you were still drinking,’” Leah said to the other women. “So I felt a type of way, and maybe I should have talked to you about it, but I didn’t want to bring that into the trip.”
On the April 4 episode of WWHL, Marysol said she gave a screenshot of the texts between her and Leah to the producers so viewers could see the conversation.
The text from Marysol, shown on screen during the show, read: “I’m saying that I support your sobriety obviously, and I could never do what you do because I don’t have your will power, and I marvel at what you have done!! But on that note I wish you were still drinking. That’s all.”
Another text from Marysol continues: “As long as you feel good and your happy that’s the ultimate life goal my friend.”
Andy Cohen read a viewer question to Marysol, asking, “Why did you tell Leah you wish she was still drinking, and did you apologize for saying it?”

“I knew Leah from before, we had met, Luann [de Lesseps] introduced us [in Miami],” Marysol told Andy. “But I just said to her I’m so excited we’re going, you know, I wish you could drink because I love that scene.”
Marysol was referring to a wild time on The Real Housewives of New York City, when Ramona Singer’s girls’ night in the Hamptons devolved into chaos after Leah was drinking and convinced fellow 'Wife Tinsley Mortimer to go skinny dipping with her.
“I think everybody remembers the psychotic scene with the tiki torches running around naked,” Marysol said on WWHL. “That’s a fun girls' moment.”
Marysol claimed she was just wishing to have more fun girls’ moments with Leah in Thailand.
“I want people to feel good,” Marysol said on WWHL. “It wasn’t a negative. I don’t know why she made it negative.”
