James Kennedy on His Relationship with His Mom Now That They're Both Sober
Here's how the big lifestyle change has affected the Vanderpump Rules cast member and his family.

Vanderpump Rules' James Kennedy and his mother, Jacqueline Georgiou, have both made a big life change: they have both gotten sober. He explained their journey to sobriety, explaining that it was his mom who made the decision first, in an interview with The Daily Dish podcast.
"My mom’s really good," James said. "She’s still sober. So she has now over a year under the belt, and our relationship is at a high, you know? She texts me every day, we talk every day, we live 10 minutes away from each other, so I like to see her. I treat her for lunch a couple times a week. So, we stay close and our relationship has gone leaps and bounds since I stopped drinking as well, because now that we’re both sober, we’re both counting the blessings together every day and it’s just such a beautiful thing, you know?"
He also shared how their sobriety has changed their family dynamics for the better. "I never really thought that this would happen, but it really has and it’s just incredible, you know? There’s no more hiding sh--. There’s no more secrets now, do you know what I mean? Those family secrets, it’s so hard to get over because, you know, everyone loves their mom, but, like, you know? There are some things that are kept from people and said, and it just breaks families apart sometimes."
As for the rest of James' family, "My brothers are doing well. My dad’s in England right now and I miss him so much, but he should be back to visit soon. Me and my mom are doing really good and our friendship is back to 100."
Following Jacqueline's appearances on Season 7, James shared, "I think that I'm projecting realness through this show and I think that watching it back with my mom, we know what we're doing here. We're not embarrassed; we don't worry about what the f--k people are thinking about me. I'm in New York City, I'm DJing shows around the world right now. Life's good and I love my mom for everything that she is."
And James celebrated his own sobriety over the summer. After reaching four weeks of sobriety, he treated himself to a new BMW, sharing that his recent life changes left him "feeling fre$h."
