Brittany Cartwright, returning to Bravo on The Valley, isn't on the best terms with everyone from her SURving days.
There’ll be plenty of nostalgia in Bravo’s upcoming series, The Valley, especially for former Vanderpump Rules cast member Brittany Cartwright.
Brittany and her husband, Jax Taylor, join Vanderpump Rules alum Kristen Doute and Kristen’s new beau, Luke Broderick, in the new show, premiering on Bravo this spring. The Valley highlights their friendships with several other exciting L.A.-based couples as they navigate parenting and marriages. Of course, we've already seen the beginning of Jax and Brittany's marriage story on Vanderpump Rules, but their life has changed in major ways since their time on the show.
So, before we see Brittany's new friendships on The Valley, let's see who she keeps in touch with from Vanderpump Rules.
Does Brittany Cartwright stay in touch with Lisa Vanderpump?
Brittany and the Vanderpump Rules matriarch, Lisa Vanderpump, certainly have love for one another, but it seems they’re less connected than they were before Brittany and Jax parted ways with the series in 2020. In a May 2022 interview with the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef, Brittany admitted it was “kinda sad” that they didn’t hear as much from LVP, per Us Weekly.
“But I still love her to pieces,” Brittany maintained.
Two months after the podcast interview, Lisa addressed Brittany’s claims, telling Us Weekly she gave Brittany and Jax a gift upon the birth of the couple’s now-toddler-aged son, Cruz.
“I have hundreds of people that work for me, sometimes thousands, and I can’t say I have a close relationship with everybody that works for me. How could I?” said Lisa. “That’s why when they had the baby, even though they were no longer working for me, I reached out with all personalized gifts and everything because I love them. I do.”
But, Lisa added, “It doesn’t go on forever.”

In October 2023, Jax said he was “excited” to have Lisa at his new sports bar, Jax’s Studio City, which he co-owns with Brittany.
Lisa is one of The Valley’s executive producers, per the show’s announcement.
Is Brittany Cartwright still friends with Scheana Shay?
Yes! The two are still close.
Brittany and Scheana Shay recently looked “Good as Gold” during a January 2024 girls' night out with Lala Kent and The Valley’s Michelle Lally.
In July 2022, Brittany went on the Scheananigans with Scheana Shay podcast, where Scheana attempted to play peacemaker between Brittany and former Vanderpump Rules cast mate Stassi Schroeder, which didn’t go as planned, according to E! News.
Brittany and Stassi (Jax’s former girlfriend) had a falling out after Jax and Brittany didn't make it to Stassi and Beau Clark's wedding in Italy.
But the rift didn’t seem to hamper Brittany’s friendship with Scheana. Jax and Brittany attended Scheana and Brock Davies’ Mexico wedding in August 2022, an event highlighted in Vanderpump Rules Season 10.
“We love you to pieces, and the wedding was so beautiful and so much fun!” Brittany wrote on her Instagram page, featuring a photo with the blushing bride. “I’m so happy for you two!!”
A handful of IG posts show Brittany and Scheana’s friendship is still going strong, from get-togethers in Newport Beach to Scheana bringing her daughter, Summer Moon, to celebrate Cruz’s second birthday.
Is Lala Kent still friends with Brittany Cartwright?
Yes, the two are still very close friends.
Between sharing the screen on Vanderpump Rules and entering motherhood within months of one another, Brittany, Scheana, and Lala have much to bond over. But when not attending kids’ birthday parties, it seems Brittany always has Lala’s back.
In October 2023, Lala said on an Amazon Live Q&A that she was “so grateful” to mark her five years of sobriety, celebrating the occasion at Chili’s with Jax and Brittany in attendance, according to Us Weekly. Stassi also showed up, and despite past dramas, the castmates put their issues aside to have Lala’s back.
“It was crazy to see people come to support me even though they may have felt uncomfortable around certain people,” Lala said. “And that’s how I know that I have a very beautiful and incredible friend group. Like, I thought that was just amazing for everybody to be like, ‘Don’t care, we are going to support her.'”
In July 2023, just before Brittany and Jax began filming for The Valley, Lala said she was still close with them.
"It is so weird that they have a show, and they aren't on our show. And as of now, we aren't on their show,” said Lala. “We are all best friends, and we should be filming a show together."
Lala was spotted with Brittany and company soon after the New Year.
Is Katie Maloney still friends with Brittany Cartwright?
Though Brittany maintains friendships with a bunch of Vanderpump Rules folks, that doesn’t seem to be the case with Katie Maloney.
In April 2023, Brittany said she was “sad” that she and Katie no longer speak.
“We still have love for each other,” Brittany clarified. “It’s crazy seeing Katie because she was literally my matron of honor. We were so close. And I have barely even heard from her in an entire year.”
Months later, Jax attended an event at Boston’s City Winery, slamming Katie as “a mean girl” for how she allegedly treated Brittany, as previously reported by Bravo’s The Daily Dish.
“She’s mean to my wife, and I have a problem with that,” Jax told the crowd. “She’s mean to my wife. She hasn’t returned calls, and they haven’t talked [in] forever. She did our gender reveal [party], and she was in our wedding.”
In response, Katie said she saw Brittany during Scheana’s birthday and that they “were fine.”
Jax also accused Katie of having “a little bit of a big head” and “riding on Ariana [Madix]’s coattails” in light of the explosive cheating scandal between Ariana and Tom Sandoval, per Us Weekly.
Is Brittany Cartwright still friends with Tom Schwartz?
The beer cheese queen might not be on the best terms with Katie, but things seem to be going swell between her and Katie’s ex-husband, Tom Schwartz.
While there’s not a whole lot out there about Schwartz and Brittany, the vibe can be gleaned from how Schwartz spoke of Jax and Sandoval in a November 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
"I gotta be honest, those are two of my best friends on the planet," Schwartz said. "Andy, you know this. And I love them like brothers, like family, and I kind of feel like a child of divorce sometimes. It felt really good to have them back together for the holidays, all warm and cozy."
Schwartz appeared on Brittany and Jax’s podcast, When Reality Hits, on February 1, 2024 for the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 premiere.
Is Ariana Madix still friends with Brittany Cartwright?
Yes, the two are still friendly. Things might have been a little tense between Ariana and Brittany in recent years, but most of that concerned Ariana’s feelings toward Jax.
In October 2021, Ariana claimed on the We Should Talk podcast that she was “bored” with Jax’s antics during his final days with Vanderpump Rules.
“He would say whatever he wants about anybody, then you would spend three and four days talking about it,” Ariana said. “It just sucks all the life out of everything else.”
Despite her feelings for Jax, Ariana said in July 2022 that she still sees Brittany “from time to time,” according to Us Weekly.
“It’s always nice when I see her,” said Ariana. “She’s honestly been so sweet.”
By May 2023, following the explosive Season 10 drama between Ariana and Sandoval, Brittany and Ariana had strengthened their relationship a bit. Jax told the Forever Young podcast that he had “nothing against Ariana.”
“For Jax, I feel like he’s gotten closer to Ariana through all of this drama,” Brittany said, adding that Ariana attended their son Cruz’s birthday party one month earlier.
“She just seems really happy. She seems like a totally different person. She just seems like a beautiful person; she looks gorgeous, she looks great,” Jax continued. “It seems like a huge weight was lifted off of her shoulders.”
Brittany and Jax were sure to reach out and lend their support to Ariana following the end of her nine-year relationship with Sandoval.
Is Brittany Cartwright still friends with Tom Sandoval?
Following the Tom and Ariana cheating saga, Brittany admitted, “We haven’t talked to Tom or anything like that.”
In June 2023, while speaking on The Toast, Jax compared Sandoval to “a serial killer who kills their family and then goes to the bar.” The harsh words came after Sandoval and his band, Tom Sandoval and The Most Extras, toured their way through Louisville, Kentucky.
Sandoval allegedly texted a Kentucky-raised Brittany to offer her and her friends free tickets, per Page Six.
“I went on my phone, and I go, ‘Don’t you ever f-cking text my wife again. How dare you. How selfish and tone-deaf are you?’” said Jax. “’You do realize Brittany is friends with all these girls? What do you think she’s going to do?’”
In November, Brittany and Kristen Doute spoke a little more about where she and Jax stand with Sandoval (Kristen’s ex) on Kristen’s Sex, Love… and What Else Matters? podcast.
Brittany cited that Jax and Sandoval shared more than two decades of history and mentioned some brief back-and-forth at BravoCon 2023.
Sandoval reportedly said hi and tried to keep things cordial, according to Brittany.
“So, he’s just trying to be extra nice, and I appreciate that,” Brittany said on the podcast. “I’m glad that he’s, like, making an effort. People can always change. And I always want the best for people.”
Is James Kennedy still friends with Brittany Cartwright?
In December 2023, Jax shared a surprising update on his feelings toward resident DJ James Kennedy, despite the pair’s rocky relationship over the years.
Jax shared an Instagram post about being the “No. 1 guy in the group” (one of his most iconic moments on Vanderpump Rules) and responded to comments about him and James.
“I love James,” Jax announced. “He has the most sense on the show, if you ask me.”
Otherwise, not much has been reported about James and Brittany’s friendship status, though Brittany does have an interesting connection with James’s current girlfriend, Ally Lewber.
Brittany said in a June 2023 interview on Scheana’s podcast that she met Ally through a closet organizing business. Brittany and Ally later reconnected at Scheana and Brock’s August 2022 wedding.
“I like her; she’s sweet,” said Brittany. “I like how she sticks up for herself.”
“She does; she has a backbone,” Jax added. “She’s not afraid to tell James how she feels, and I like her. She’s a nice girl. She really is.”
