Gizelle Bryant Had an Interesting Idea for What She Wanted to Hold in the RHOP Opening Credits
The RHOP cast member reflects on the early days of the franchise.
The opening credits for The Real Housewives of Potomac doesn't just include enticing taglines, but also the cast holding a flute of Champagne at the end (as you can see in the clip above). But it wasn't the item that Gizelle Bryant had hoped the women would be displaying, as she explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I rallied and cried and was like, 'We have to hold a crab, we have to.' I thought that that would explain where we are, and the fact that Maryland is such a crab town," she said. Gizelle reportedly even sent in a photo of herself holding a plastic crab to sell the idea to the executives (two things: 1) we need to see this photo, and, 2) Maryland crabs are delicious).
She noted, "I was like, 'I'm totally dead serious and this is what we should hold.' But you know, I was outvoted clearly."
Food has made the cut in other cities, but those items are fruit: the RHOA cast holds peaches; the RHONY ladies hold apples, and the RHOC crew holds oranges.
There was another possible choice, she told to EW: "The other option was cherry blossoms... the cherry blossoms are kind of on a stick of the tree and we couldn't figure out how to hold that in a nice way."
But it should be noted that Gizelle has come around to the glass of Champs: "I do like the champagne glass now that years have gone by."
We mean, who doesn't love a good glass of Champagne now and then?
