Why Dorit Kemsley Doesn’t “Know What the Future Holds” with Paul "PK" Kemsley
See what both Dorit and PK revealed during their therapy session on RHOBH.
Dorit Kemsley has been open about the lasting effects of the home invasion that took place in 2021 throughout The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 — namely, her ongoing struggle with PTSD, as well as her husband Paul "PK" Kemsley's inability to understand it.
The couple then sat down for their most candid conversation on the topic yet during RHOBH Season 13, Episode 11, which aired January 10.
See what both Dorit and PK had to say by scrolling below.
Dorit Kemsley and Paul "PK" Kemsley's Therapy Session
Dorit's therapist Dr. Sarah facilitated the pair's conversation, which Dorit was eager to have. As she put it in a confessional, "My biggest issue is that after the home invasion, I really needed PK around. And he was traveling all the time. He wasn't here for me; not physically and not emotionally, really. The passes, the patience, those are now used up. It's time for him to show up."
PK's Surprise Anniversary Celebration
What's more, Dorit told PK in front of Dr. Sarah, "The reason why I really wanted to have a session with the three of us is because I feel like you don't quite understand the severity of the PTSD for me, and largely in part the surprise element."
The trio went on to discuss PK's anniversary surprise for Dorit, which, as fans may recall, she had mixed feelings about due to the anxiety it caused her. She expressed this at the time, only for him to become upset. Reflecting on the moment, PK said, "There isn't a freaking husband in the world that would've taken kindly to what she said when she said it after what I'd just done. Do you understand? It felt a little bit of a 'f-ck you.'"
PK also expressed his belief that Dorit is "high maintenance."
Dorit on PK Being "Mean"
Dorit shared her feelings about PK's remarks in a confessional. "One of the things that I fell in love with [about] PK when I first met him was he could let go of things so easily," she said. "And I feel like in the past few years, he's definitely gotten more harsh with me — a little mean sometimes, like [he'll] go low. And I don't like that aspect."
"In a marriage, these are the times that truly test your relationship," she later continued. "This particular bad time where I need PK and it's not the other way around, he's coming up really short."
PK, meanwhile, explained in a confessional of his own, "Dealing with the pressures of having to manage your career and your job and travel and keep the Mrs. happy is always a challenge. Something has to give. I try and balance it, but maybe I don't always balance it as well as I should or could. And this isn't a one-sided thing. We need to keep each other happy and we need to sometimes be wrong, which has always been a challenge for Dorit."
Dorit on the Future of Her and PK's Marriage
The couple ended their conversation with Dr. Sarah on a good note, but Dorit privately concluded, "What I need is for PK not only to get a better grasp of what I'm going through, [but also] to want to be there for me. If we can do that together, him and I will succeed. If he can't, I don't know what the future holds."
Are Dorit Kemsley and Paul "PK" Kemsley still together?
Yes! in fact, Dorit gave an update on her marriage with PK over the holiday season.
On December 22, Dorit shared an old photo of her, PK, Jagger, and Phoenix huddling together on a couch. "[T]he only bubble I live in is a love bubble," she captioned the post. "[S]ending much love to everyone for a happy and joyous holiday season."
On Christmas Eve, the mom of two took to Instagram again, posting current family photos of them rocking a white t-shirt and blue jeans. In the caption, Dorit wrote: "Happy Holidays from our family to yours," Dorit captioned the post.
