After Tom was recently mentioned in a Bloomberg article titled "Inside the Powerful Lobby Fighting for Your Right to Eat Pizza," the Top Chef judge issued a biting response. The piece cited Tom as an enemy of pizza, alongside the First Lady, using 2010 testimony he gave Congress where he discussed wanting to improve school lunch programs in schools, during which he mentioned burgers and pizza.

However, it turns out, he does love pizza. But he still wants everyone to eat healthier.

"For the record, I love pizza," he wrote on Facebook. "I have pizza—really good in fact—on my menu at Colicchio & Sons, and little known tidbit: the Colicchio name is associated with the first takeout pizza on record in Italy. My children eat pizza. I let them. I donít let them eat pizza every day; it's a treat reserved for birthday parties and the occasional night when we're just too tired to cook."

Still, he points out that he remains "an advocate for healthier lunches in school." He adds, "I advocate for fruits, vegetables, and whole grains to play a larger role in our kids' diets. As adults, we have a responsibility to ensure that school lunch is nutritious and healthy. Pizza is fine, but I think we should leave the decision of how much and how often up to parents.
