Andy Cohen Recalls the Watch What Happens Live Guest Who "Hated Me and My Questions"
The Watch What Happens Live host revisited an "infamous" night in the Clubhouse.
Andy Cohen was all smiles while chatting with Amanda Peet and Andrew Rannells on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home on June 24. But while catching up with Peet, he had to take a moment to remember her last appearance on WWHL, which was considerably more awkward.
Andy asked Peet about "an infamous night in the Clubhouse" in which she appeared as a guest on WWHL "with the legendary actress Debra Winger" in 2018. "What was going through your mind during that challenging and interesting episode?" Andy asked Peet (clip above).
"'Is it me, or are we tanking,' was going through my mind," the Dirty John star said. "And then, 'How can I help? Don't be such a wuss.' Like, 'Be more fun, dumb dumb,' was also going through my mind."
Andy assured Peet that she was "great" on the show. "[Winger] just hated me and my questions, so it was a challenging situation," he noted.
Andy went on to explain that Winger was particularly not a fan of one of his Plead the Fifth questions (clip below). "I asked her to rank some of her legendary kisses, like between [John] Travolta, Richard Gere, and [Robert] Redford. And she's like, 'I don't remember. Do you remember someone you kissed 30 years ago?' I'm like, 'If it was Robert Redford, I would have remembered,'" Andy said. "But anyway, I'm still a big Debra Winger fan."
Peet also said her admiration of Winger was part of the reason why she was left speechless during the episode. "I'm a big Debra Winger fan, and so that's the other problem. I was dumbfounded. I was kind of just in a state of dumb shock," she said. "So it was hard for me to help or be conversational because I was kind of like, just my mouth was hung open."
Andy previously reflected on Winger's WWHL appearance during a For Your Consideration Emmys event in 2019 in which he remarked that he "almost can't talk" about the moment because it was so "bad." "You know what's weird about Debra Winger? We really did connect, and during the commercial break, she kept saying, 'You know, you're like my Jewish little brother. I feel connected to you,'" he shared. "But then when the camera came on, she wasn't having me."
