Andy Cohen Reveals Which Celebrity *Almost* Hosted Bravo's Top Chef
It's hard to picture anyone other than Padma Lakshmi as the host but it almost happened.
Can you picture a world in which Bravo's Top Chef was hosted by someone other than Padma Lakshmi? Nope, we can't conceive of it, either — but it almost happened. On the June 18 episode of Radio Andy, Andy Cohen sat down with actress Debi Mazar and brought up a blast from the past.
"Wasn't I talking to you about hosting Top Chef or a spinoff we were doing?" he asked.
Mazar remembered it well. "Yes! No, it wasn't a spinoff; it was the original," Mazar said. Then, she revealed why she had to turn down the opportunity.
"I was breastfeeding," she said. "And I wanted to do it ... but I didn't want to drag around the breastfeeding machine." And then, there was this slightly more graphic detail: "My tits were out to here and I felt like a cow," Mazar quipped. She added: "I had this brand new baby, and I didn't want to leave it."
So, does Padma have the Entourage actress to thank for the plum gig? "I told Padma, 'You know, you should thank me because I got you a job,'" Mazar joked. "We're girlfriends!"
Mazar did get a chance to try her hand at the job when she served as a guest judge on Bravo's Top Chef; take a look at her hilarious and scathing critique, above. And listen in on the revealing conversation, below.
