Cynthia Bailey: I Feel So Much Better!
The RHOA star doesn’t regret getting fibroid surgery—or sharing her struggle with the world.
On this season of RHOA, Cynthia Bailey revealed she had undergone surgery to remove uterine fibroids. The pain and discomfort caused by the condition were affecting every aspect of her life, from her self-esteem to her marriage to husband Peter Bailey.
Months after undergoing the procedure, Cynthia says all aspects of her life have improved. "I’m feeling so much better!" she tells the Dish. "Best thing I ever did! My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner."
She’s also happy that she chose to document her recovery on the show. "It ended up being amazing," she says. "I thought, ‘No one wants to hear my talking about my period.’ That’s not sexy or glamorous. But I’ve had women and men, because they have to deal with their wives’ struggles, commend me for talking about it."
The eye-opening health scare has made Cynthia reevaluate how she takes care of herself going forward. "I’m in my 40s and I’m definitely taking my health more seriously because you have to," she says. "You can’t work and build empires and be on TV if you’re not well. You have to be healthy. I’m not in a point life where I can take it for granted."
One other thing she’s not taking for granted: her adorable new dog Bai Lei, a Pomeranian. In fact, the Baileys recently had their pup neutered and she reports that he’s doing just fine now. “Before that, he was the hump master!” she says with a laugh. “He violated every toy that he had. It was just not good. But he has chilled out now.”
