Craig Conover Regrets Making This Comment About Madison LeCroy: "That Wasn't Nice"
Craig Conover and Shep Rose weigh in on Madison LeCroy and Austen Kroll's relationship.
Austen Kroll and Madison LeCroy's relationship continues to be a hot topic in Season 7 of Southern Charm, especially after Madison had a run-in with someone she previously had a fling with at Shep Rose's "Dumb and Dumber" party, as featured in the season premiere.
The November 4 episode of Southern Charm featured the fallout from that revelation at Shep's party. When Shep filled Craig Conover on the situation, Craig made a comment about Madison's love life, which it seemed like she overheard. "Oh my god, she just heard me say that! Oh my god, she just heard me say it!" Craig said to Shep. "She's staring right at us."
Though it was unclear if Madison did, in fact, hear what Craig had said about her that night, he still showed remorse for his comment during his appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on November 4 (clip above). "Yeah, that wasn't nice. I was actually surprised when I saw that and I said that," Craig said, adding that he "shouldn't have said that." "You'll see this season why we get brought back into the discussion [about Austen and Madison] because it starts to leak out into everyone else's lives."
Craig's fellow WWHL guest, Shep, also shared his reaction to his conversation with Madison at the Charleston Wine + Food festival featured in the November 4 episode of Southern Charm. "Madison is combative, and she is good at it. She and Austen's relationship, sometimes it's everybody else's fault and us versus the world," he shared. "If that makes them happy, I'm fine. I just want to stay out of it. I know it looks like I don't. I think it's a no-win situation."
When host Andy Cohen seemed dubious about Shep's intentions to stay out of Austen and Madison's relationship, Shep explained that he's just trying to get a better sense of the couple's dynamic this season. "Well, you'll see throughout this season, it was really revelatory how they navigated their relationship, and I think Craig had a long talk with Madison and we just kind of wanted to know where their heads were at because literally they're right, the world is against them. There's not many people in Charleston that think they're a great match," he said. "So you just wonder, OK, and you're trying to help your friend and you just try to understand. I'm a cerebral guy; I really need to understand why."
Craig later teased that he will try to get to the bottom of things with Madison this season of Southern Charm. "No matter what she does, he's never gonna leave her," Craig said during the WWHL After Show. "And so, Madison and I have an incredible meeting in the park this year that you'll get to see where I last resort go to her."
"Yeah, it's gonna be good," Shep added. "I'm looking forward to it, as a viewer, to watch that."
Austen recently told Us Weekly that "it's extremely difficult" dealing with Craig and Shep's criticism of his romance with Madison. “It’s very tough. You know, if you want to consider someone a close friend, it’s like, ‘Look, man, I’m not choosing between you and love,'” he explained. “I’m just not. So it’s certainly tough to have friends that aren’t supportive.”
“If you’re my friends, then you’ll accept this and we’ll move forward,” Austen added. “You’ve got to make a choice... They don’t have it together. Like, who the hell are they to judge me?”
