Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Sean Burke Shared a Major Update on Their Relationship
“We have decided jointly that we are going to take a few months apart," Braunwyn shared about her current status with Sean.
Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Sean Burke just shared a major update on their marriage. She opened up about the new arrangement in their relationship in a video she posted to Instagram on Monday (July 12) titled "What’s next for The Burkie Bunch!" by sharing that she and Sean "kind of decided to take this time ... and just kind of figure out what we are going to do next." Braunwyn said that she and Sean will be "taking some time apart."
She confirmed they are moving from their current home where they live together and will each live separately for a while. “He is moving into a furnished rental for a few months, and I am taking the kids to Kauai for a while,” she explained in the Instagram video, later noting that she's traveling with the younger children she shares with Sean. “We have decided jointly that we are going to take a few months apart."
Sean was by her side during the Instagram conversation and added, “We’re going to see what that’s like living apart for a little." He also said that he’s “excited about getting my own place” and looking forward to “figuring out the rest of our lives.”
Braunwyn noted that after these next few months apart, they'll work out the new living arrangement in California down the line. “We really want to do what’s best for us — we are family, we’ve been together for 26 years,” she said. “That’s a lot, and that’s something we don’t want to minimize — we want to honor that. I think having some space right now will give us some clarity.”
Elsewhere in the update, Braunwyn said, "We need a break. We need some space right now."
Sean noted that he does "eventually" intend to date down the line, and Braunwyn confirmed she is still dating Fernanda Rocha, who also appeared on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Braunwyn and Sean also confirmed to a fan that they have no plans to be involved romantically with one another. They also shared they don't have any immediate plans to get divorced.
Braunwyn came out as a lesbian in an interview with GLAAD back in December 2020. Sean quickly showed his support for Braunwyn. "For over 25 years I have loved and supported you, and I'm not about to stop," he wrote on Twitter at the time. Braunwyn later opened up about navigating their "modern marriage" last year.
One day after posting their video update, Braunwyn shared a sweet birthday message for Sean alongside a video of them dancing. "Happy birthday to my best friend, co parent, and co pilot in life - Sean, 26 years is a long time, and there are even more years ahead of adventures. [Sean] the way you love our children, our history, and me is so profound in every way. Thank you for your consistent understanding, support, conversations, and fun," Braunwyn wrote. "Our life and relationship is certainly unconventional, to say the least. These next few months are gonna look different for us, but I’m so excited to see what’s next for you and for our family that we will forever share- what is NOT unconventional lies in the unconditional- and that is the love we have for each other and our kids. I love you and happy birthday! Here’s to celebrating all things YOU."
