Wendy, Guerdy & Sanya Champion Black History Month and Discuss the Experiences That Shaped Them
The Real Housewives also discuss what Black History Month means to them in an empowering conversation.
In honor of Black History Month, The Real Housewives of Potomac’s Dr. Wendy Osefo, The Real Housewives of Miami’s Guerdy Abraira, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Sanya Richards-Ross amplified their voices to explain what the historic month means to them and uplifted Black heritage in a recent Instagram Live video on Bravo’s Instagram account.
The conversation was hosted by E! News correspondent Francesca Amiker and is the latest entry in the Amplify Our Voices series.
Guerdy (who also participated in an Amplify Our Voices discussion back in 2022, above) started the inspiring conversation by sharing how Black History Month is “the beauty of evolution” and how one should “remember your roots.”
Sanya shared what she looks forward to during Black History Month. “I think Black History Month allows us an opportunity to amplify the voices of Black people,” Sanya said in the Instagram live video. “As well as reflect on, you know, just our incredible history.”
Wendy followed the sentiments of both Real Housewives, saying, “When you think about Black History, it happens on a daily basis, and just to have a month to pay homage to that is something that I both love and I celebrate on a daily basis.”
While discussing the values of Black History Month, the three Real Housewives also reflected on their own experiences and motivations that helped them become such strong, influential figures today. “I give all praise to my mother, and I appreciate her for all her sacrifices and showing me that anything is possible and the sky is not the limit — it’s you,” Wendy said during the Instagram Live chat.
Guerdy added to Wendy’s remarks by revealing some key points her parents instilled in her: “Faster, better, [and] stronger. Those are the three terms in which I was born and raised in.”
Sanya noted the importance of her Olympic track success for all “young Black girls.” She explained, “I’ve always felt very, very, very blessed to do what I do… I just always hope that it inspires the next generation to go further and run faster and jump higher and do all the things.”
