Eddie Lucas Just Shared a Major Career Update: “I’m the Captain Now”
Plus, find out what Captain Lee Rosbach had to say about the Below Deck alum’s latest accomplishment.
Below Deck’s Eddie Lucas has officially earned his stripes! In the caption of a recent Instagram post, the former bosun turned first mate announced his exciting new rank.
“‘I’m the captain now.’ After 10 years of hard work, I’m proud to announce I am now captain of a harbor tug in Baltimore Harbor,” Eddie revealed on Friday, December 16. “I am working with a great crew, on a great tug, and I’m excited for 30 more years of harder work. Big thank you to my family, both on and off the water, I wouldn’t be here today without you.”
Of course, one of those people was Captain Lee Rosbach, who sent his virtual congratulations, along with several other Below Deck family members, including Josiah Carter, Isabelle “Izzy” Wouters, Below Deck Mediterranean’s Hannah Ferrier and Kasey Cohen, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Captain Glenn Shephard. “So very proud of you Eddie and all the hard work you’ve put in to get that fourth stripe,” Captain Lee commented. “Well done Captain Lucas, well done sir. I proudly salute you.”
Eddie, for his part, replied to his former boss that he “couldn’t have done it” without him.
As viewers will recall, the Below Deck Season 8 finale included the touching moment when Captain Lee surprised Eddie with new epaulets featuring three stripes to signify his first officer ranking after earning his 1600-ton license. “It meant a lot to me,” Eddie explained during a Below Deck After Show at the time. “It kind of choked me up a little bit.”
Meanwhile, Captain Lee said the decision was a no-brainer, adding, “Trust me when I tell you, Eddie earned his stripes — and then some.”
