5 Things You Didn't Know About the Austen Kroll Intervention Over Madison LeCroy
Find out how the Southern Charm guys really felt when telling Austen Kroll about Madison LeCroy's controversial DMs.
If you're like us, you're still scandalized by Craig Conover and Shep Rose's "intervention" with Austen Kroll over Madison LeCroy sliding into another guy's DMs. While the Southern Charm guys handled it the best they could, we wondered if there was more going on behind the scenes that we didn't get to see. Luckily for us, the guys shared their true feelings about the night and told us some info that never made it onscreen.
Get a sneak peek below at all of the sweet tea they spilled, and check out the Behind the Episode special on Wednesday, July 3 at 8/7c for even more juicy details!
1. Waiting Was the Hardest Part
Shep and Craig were at the bar for 30 minutes before Austen arrived. To calm their nerves, they each had two or three drinks. The alcohol helped prep them for the intervention, but they were still anxious: Shep wasn't prepared to lose Austen as a friend over this, but thankfully he had Craig to back him up. Craig felt "as strongly" as Shep that Austen and Madison needed to break up, so it was a team effort.
2. The Call to Danni
Craig knew Danni would be mad at him for telling Shep about the DM sent to Gentry, "but I did it anyway," he admited. Austen wanted to confirm the information, and hearing it straight from Danni was what he needed to believe Shep and Craig.
3. Austen's Feelings
If Austen was in Craig and Shep's position, how would he have handled the "intervention?" He said, "I wouldn't have taken so much f--king joy from it, that's for sure."
Austen said Shep's "lack of empathy" drives him crazy, and Craig was "better at comforting him" than Shep.
4. Does Austen Regret His Call to Madison?
We all know how easy it is to make unsound decisions when drunk, and Austen agrees. He admitted, "I wish I gave my phone away and waited until the next day to think over the facts and orchestrate a plan."
5. Madison's Confession
If you were like us, you had no idea how Madison would react to Austen's call. When she said yes and admitted her friend DMed Gentry, Austen revealed his "heart dropped." He said, "I was expecting her to try and talk her way out of it."
