One of Andy Cohen's Worst Watch What Happens Live Guests Appeared on the Show in the Last Year: "I Almost Can't Talk About It"
"Oh my god, it was bad," the WWHL host said of this celebrity's appearance.
In Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen's 10 years on the air so far, plenty of guests have been unforgettable, but there are only a couple who stand out for all the wrong reasons.
When Andy Cohen was asked to name his worst WWHL guest of all time during an audience Q&A at a For Your Consideration Emmys event in New York City on May 20, the host said "there have been a few" who come to mind. "Amber [Rose] was not great. She had sunglasses on. She wouldn't answer any of my questions," Andy said of the star's 2015 appearance. "She did not come to play."
But actually, one of the worst WWHL guests of all time was in the Clubhouse not that long ago. Someone in the audience suggested Debra Winger's October 2018 appearance during the For Your Consideration event, and Andy couldn't disagree. "Oh my god, it was bad," he recalled. "I almost can't talk about it."
Andy said he didn't expect Winger's appearance to go that way at all. "You know what's weird about Debra Winger? We really did connect, and during the commercial break, she kept saying, 'You know, you're like my Jewish little brother. I feel connected to you,'" he shared. "But then when the camera came on, she wasn't having me."
Andy recalled a particularly tense moment with the Oscar-nominated actress during a round of Plead the Fifth, which you can check out, above. "I asked her to rate her onscreen kisses in order, like [John] Travolta, Richard Gere, and [Robert] Redford. I mean, that's a fair question," he said. "She was like, 'Would you remember if you did those 30 years ago?' I was like, yeah!... 50 years ago! Yeah, I would! Call me crazy! If I was a female lead in An Officer and a Gentleman."
But of course, WWHL has had some amazing guests over the years as well, including Oprah Winfrey in 2013, which was particularly special for Andy. "I probably saw 85 percent of the episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show in their entirety, and that's 25 years," Andy said. "So that one was really huge for me."
Other "huge stars" make up Andy's list of "Hall of Fame guests." "I always get nervous when like Will Ferrell was on or when there are comedians on who I just always admired, I go nuts," Andy shared. "And then there are people who are just kind of in our family who are always great, like the Chrissy Teigens, people like that."
There's nothing like the feeling of welcoming a guest to WWHL for the first time, according to Andy. "It's just fun when you get a new person that you can add to the list, and they can leave and say, 'Wow, this was cool. I've never done this.' It feels different to them. It's exciting," Andy said. "It's like sleeping with someone for the first time."
And then there are people who Andy is still dying to have on the show who somehow just haven't made it to the Clubhouse yet, like Michelle Obama and Madonna. "It's OK. You know what? It's always good to keep pushing. I said on the radio this morning that I'm so grateful that I have a show that I could say, 'Madonna hasn't done my show,'" Andy said. "Wow, that's even a conversation?"
