Andy Cohen Is Hoping for the "Safe Return" of a Childhood Friend Who Is Missing
The Watch What Happens Live host is helping to bring awareness to the ongoing search.
Andy Cohen is hoping for the safe return of his childhood friend, Andrew Neiman, who went missing two weeks ago.
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host asked his followers for help in locating Neiman on his Facebook page on May 27. The missing poster noted that Neiman was last seen on May 21 "wearing green hospital scrubs and may be wearing glasses."
"Andy is younger than me, but we went to the same camp—Nebagamon in Wisconsin—and the same high school," Andy Cohen told E! News on Thursday, June 3. "I'm praying for his safe return, along with a lot of folks in St Louis."
A GoFundMe page was created by Neiman's family and friends on May 25 to raise funds to hire a private investigator to help in the search. The GoFundMe also provided more information on Neiman, including that he was last seen leaving the MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York and "has a history of mental illness and may be suffering from psychosis."
"While we believe Andy is still in the local area, family, friends, search parties and police have been looking for 4 days and have not yet located him," his family and friends wrote on the GoFundMe page at the time. "We are grateful for your contribution for our sweet brother, son, friend and father."
The GoFundMe has raised $39,255 of its $40,000 goal as of the time of this writing. Neiman's family and friends later thanked everyone for their support, donations, and help in searching for him in an update on the GoFundMe page posted on May 27, which also noted that a private investigator had been hired.
"Unfortunately, leads to date have not materialized locating Andy. While we are disappointed, we remain undeterred. We have increased our GoFundMe goal in this critical time to find Andy and are redoubling efforts to hire additional private investigators, fly drones, advertise, pound the pavement, and search the woods, parks, and waters where Andy may be," Neiman's family and friends wrote in the May 27 update on the GoFundMe page. "Please keep Andy in your prayers. Please keep circulating pictures and social media shares. And please forward this GoFundMe to others as it has been the lifeline of this search."
Neiman's younger sister, Emily Abramson told Page Six that he is a “wonderful, spiritual guy” who loves his 9-year-old daughter. “He is incredibly quirky with deep passions for a variety of things, especially the performing arts and Shakespeare,” she said. “His mind is greatly analytical.”
Anyone with information on Neiman's whereabouts should call the New York State Missing Persons Clearinghouse at 1-800-346-3543.
