Texicanas' Karla Ramirez Shares a "Secret" Trader Joe's Item That Just Might Change Your Life
The Texicanas mama isn't the only one in her household who swears by this ingredient — her kids are "obsessed."
Trader Joe's shelves are lined with magic potions that will get even the pickiest kids to eat. Just ask The Real Housewives of Orange County's Gina Kirschenheiter, whose kids are "obsessed" with its linguine and clam sauce. Texicanas' Karla Ramirez also has a Trader Joe's ingredient she always keeps stocked for her kiddos — and, OK, for the adults in her household as well.
"I love Trader Joe's, and I have given the secret away to all my friends," the Texicanas mother told The Feast. Ready for it? "You need to buy Soyaki."
Some quick research on the product dug this up: It's a teriyaki sauce that can also be used as a marinade for meat, poultry, fish, tofu, and veggies.
"Honestly, you add it to your food, and it just changes everything completely," Karla told us. "You can make turkey-lettuce wraps that contain absolutely no fat, and you add a little bit of Soyaki and all the vegetables in the world, and my kids are obsessed. It's my little secret. No one knows about it!"
She added: "I live for trying to find meals that are extra healthy... and my kids are going to love. So if I have to add a little bit of Soyaki or avocado, whatever it is that they will love, here I go." Anything for the kids, right?
