Hoda Kotb Adopted Another Baby Girl: "My Heart Just Grew"
The TODAY host welcomes new daughter Hope Catherine to the family.
After consuming approximately 5,300 glasses of wine on TV together, TODAY show anchors Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford ended their 11-year on-air partnership when Gifford retired on April 5. Immediately following the end of that chapter, Kotb has started a new one, sharing the news that she has a new member of her family!
Kotb and her partner, Joel Schiffman, have adopted newborn Hope Catherine. She joins daughter Haley Joy, 2, who was adopted in 2017 after advice and support from Sandra Bullock, who has also adopted later in life. The secret adoption was revealed Tuesday by Savannah Guthrie on TODAY.
Haley Joy is already thrilled with her new role.
"This morning at breakfast, [Haley] was trying to feed [Hope] her raspberries, and I was like, 'Not yet, babe,''' Kotb said on TODAY. "She was literally marching around saying, 'I'm a big sister!'''
Kotb said her heart is "like, exploding!"
"You know what's funny? You think that you're full,'' she told Guthrie. "That's exactly how I felt with Haley and Joel and everything. Joel and I were standing there when they hand you the baby, and it's the closest thing to a live birth you'll ever see, but in that moment, I was like, 'Oh my god, my heart just grew.' It's amazing. I can't believe it's happening."
Kotb and TODAY celebrated with some adorable social media posts, including an inspirational Instagram message that says, "Choose Hope."
Congratulations Hoda, Joel, and Haley! Hope Catherine is a lucky little lady.
