Britney Spears Gets an Outpouring of Support After Checking Herself into a Mental Health Facility
Britney Spears is going through an extremely emotional time, but she has family to lean on.
Earlier this year, Britney Spears announced that she was putting her Las Vegas residency on hold after her father suffered a life-threatening rupture in his colon. At the time, the singer shared in a statement: "I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family. We have a very special relationship and I want to be with my family at this time just like they have always been there for me." And now, it's Britney's family's turn to have her back.
Earlier this week, The Los Angeles Times reported that Spears had checked herself into a mental health facility amid her father's health concerns. A source told People, "He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself."
When the news become public, Spears' extended family was quick to support her. Ex-husband Kevin Federline, who will reportedly care for the children while the singer is away, is commending his ex for seeking self-care. According to a statement from Federline's lawyer, "Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking the reasonable steps to deal with her situation in a responsible way."
Meanwhile, Spears' mother, Lynn, and her boyfriend, Sam Asghari, have both shared supportive messages on social media. Keep scrolling to see what they wrote:
