George Lucas Bought the Vineyard Next to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's French Château for $11.2 Million
The château-to-château driving distance is about 2 miles.
Sure, the South of France is a known celebrity hotspot. But it it looks like this small area in Provence is quickly becoming a magnet for celebs who love their wine.
Earlier this spring, George Lucas quietly bought 253 acres of land in the Var region for $11.2 million (which, if you're a fan of Million Dollar Listing New York, almost seems like a bargain), as reported by PEOPLE. The massive property, called Château Margüi, includes 33 acres of working vineyards, olive groves, and a historic château. It's an expansion of his Skywalker Vineyards, which owns land in California and Italy and produces a variety of wines, including chardonnay, pinot noir, and rosé.
But what makes his new estate especially notable are his swanky neighbors located directly south: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, whose Château Miraval produces well-known award-winning wines. (Though of course with divorce proceedings underway, it's uncertain what will happen to the Pitt-Jolie estate.)
There's a forest separating the two estates, and the door-to-door driving distance is a mere two miles.
If you want to check out Château Margüi (and spy on Château Miraval), you might be in luck—Lucas is planning to build a small hotel on his property. Though it's unlikely Brad Pitt will be dropping by to borrow a cup of sugar anytime soon.
