A Justin Bieber Shirt is The "It Piece" of The Summer (No, Seriously)
And just wait till you see how much his jackets cost.
So, it's not exactly news that tour merchandise has evolved from cheesy tees to fashion in recent years. (Thank you, Yeezy.) But, we were still a bit shocked to hear that Barneys—that bastion of high, edgy style—has started slinging Justin Bieber's tour merchandise.
As you may have heard, the Biebs is currently on tour for his Purpose album, which spawned a collection of Purpose merchandise. The merch has been sold in pop-ups that have drawn epic lines, and goods tend to sell out fast. Now, Barneys is carrying a Purpose capsule collection that includes 31 unisex pieces that range from $91 to a whopping $1,675 for a leather jacket.
The pieces were made with help from Jerry Lorenzo, who runs the hip fashion label Fear of God. The duds are available in the Barneys stores in Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco; you can also purchase them online.
But, before you assume that people wear this gear ironically, know that's not always the case. The New York Times even noted that "fashion girls" as are likely as tweens to wait it out for their chance at a Bieber tee. In fact, super-popular fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni—who runs Blonde Salad—told the Times that the Bieber t-shirt is the "hit piece of the season."
Here, she's paired hers with a Balenciaga bag.
And, in Miami store Alchemist, some of Bieber's pieces are hanging alongside goods from Azzedine Alaïa. Is Justin's next stop fashion week? Maybe he should call Kanye to coordinate.
