Christian Siriano Dishes on the Dress That Caused a Stir Among Real Housewives
Bravo's Project Runway mentor explains how this RHONY reunion moment got some other Real Housewives upset.
Christian Siriano is no stranger to making headlines — especially when it comes to his groundbreaking designs. Whether it's a gender-bending Oscars moment with Billy Porter or an unforgettably unique runway show, the Bravo's Project Runway mentor is known for creating waves in the fashion industry. And there's one Siriano design in particular that caused a bit of a stir amongst Real Housewives.
On his February 6 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the Project Runway mentor dished on some buzz-worthy clients, including none other than Tinsley Mortimer. As you may recall, the socialite wore a show-stopping frock by Christian at The Real Housewives of New York City Season 11 reunion. The purple gown featured a high-low silhouette with a long, flowing train. Ring a bell? If not, here's a refresher:
When Andy asked Christian if he knew that Tinsley was going to wear the dress, the designer had a backstory to share.
He began, "Let me tell you: Tinsley came to my store, bought this dress — so respectful. I really appreciated that." As Andy pointed out, this was a big deal because often times celebrities borrow pieces from designers and return them. Christian explained that Tinsley wanted to own the dress because she loved it and wanted to adjust it to fit her figure. "I thought that was really nice," he shared.
Now, for the juicy part. Andy also noted that this was perhaps the first time we've seen one of his designs at a reunion show, which Christian confirmed. In fact, Christian revealed that this reunion-first drew a strong response from other 'Wives.
"I got feedback," the designer shared. When Andy asked if people were upset, he replied: "Well, you know, none of the Housewives really like each other. So, yeah — you know, that happened. Other ones are 'Oh, you're dressing them, but not me?' And I'm like nope — she bought it."
