It’s been a while since Jax Taylor tended bar at SUR and Brittany Cartwright, well, SURved — but the couple is going back into the hospitality biz. The Vanderpump Rules alums just announced plans to open their own bar. Here’s everything we know.
Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are opening a bar
On the August 3 episode of their podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, the couple spilled the tea. Or rather, the beer cheese.
“I am opening a sports bar. It is going to be called Jax’s Studio City. We started construction on Monday and I am really excited. We are finally going to have a neighborhood sports bar,” Jax shared.
The Michigan native added: “I know in the past I said that owning a bar is basically a marriage killer, but the difference is [Brittany is] involved just as much as I am. My wife is involved just as much as I am. We have 100% say in what is going on, and she is doing the decorating.”
That makes sense: As Brittany’s followers have seen, the Kentucky-born beauty does have a way with decor!
“The difference between some other people that we know that did a bar without their significant others is that I am involving mine,” Jax continued.
Brittany added: “[Jax] said [owning a bar is hard on relationships] many times, and it has freaked me out ever since this project came to be a possibility for us. It is called Jax’s, but it is mine too. And you are not going to be there 24/7. It is going to be kid-friendly during the day.”
Yes, there will be Mamaw’s Beer Cheese
“What we are planning on doing is finally having Mamaw’s Beer Cheese on the menu so people can come and pick up their own little tub there,” Brittany shared, referring to her long-in-the-works business venture (more on that below).
She continued: “We couldn’t sell it here in California, but now that we have a kitchen, I am going to fly my [grandma] out and have her help with the menu so that it has a lot of Southern charm.”
Back in 2018, Brittany told BravoTV.com: “Mamaw, she has her beer cheese that she’s been selling for a long time, so Jax and I are just trying to take it to the next level.”
She added: “We are working with a couple different companies in L.A. to try to get it going and it’s gonna be on this season… Mamaw’s Beer Cheese. It’s gonna be up and running soon!”
