Karen Huger Reveals Exactly How She Took Her Signature Style to the “Next Level”
This season on RHOP, the Grande Dame used a specific style formula to elevate her fashion.
Karen Huger has served countless fabulous looks in her five years as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Potomac, and now, the Grande Dame is opening up about her status as a full-fledged fashion icon. Karen recently spoke to PAPER magazine about her personal style, and how it’s evolved over the past few seasons.
“My style is and has always been classic elegance with a modern twist,” Karen explained. “While I remained true to my everyday which simple fashion throughout this season, I definitely took my fashion sensibility above and beyond. I sprinkled more couture purses, dresses, and wraps throughout the season. The couture addition took my fashion to the next level.”
The Grande Dame also explained that she owes her next-level looks to the lifestyle changes she’s made recently.
"I definitely have modernized my classic style and along with my health journey, have worked on myself inside and out. Taking care of yourself with self-care is so important and I feel good which resonates with my overall look,” she said. “Your health is your wealth, something we’ve all learned during this pandemic.”
When asked to reflect on her RHOP fashion choices over her five seasons as a cast member, Karen said, “Clearly, my looks evolved for the better each season. As I look back over the last five years, and my fashion choices; I’m proud to say I see personal growth for the better which is reflected both inside and out.”
Karen explained that she doesn’t work with a stylist to create her everyday outfits, but that “when it comes to my confessionals, it’s a team collaboration with my glam squad and myself.”
There is, however, one look she regrets: “Season one confessional look in the shiny electric blue dress makes me cringe.”
As for her all time favorite?
“My absolute favorite look is my season five confessional single black gloves and diamonds look, paying tribute to Hollywood greats like Dorthy Danridge and Lena Horne.”
