Back in February, Braunwyn Windham-Burke opened up about a skin cancer scare. The Real Housewives of Orange County mom shared that a "little mole that looked kinda weird came back positive for melanoma." Fortunately, Braunwyn revealed they caught it in time. While scary nevertheless, this wasn't the first time Braunwyn found herself in a similar situation.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Orange County on Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

Prompted by a dermatologist visit on Wednesday, June 17, Braunwyn took to Instagram to share her long history with the disease and urge fans to pay attention to their health. “I was diagnosed with my first malignant melanoma stage 2 at age 19. I was very young and we had to go through radiation. I had to get it cut out. I have a huge scar," she revealed.

"Ever since then I get checked every four months. When I was younger, I didn’t get biopsies every time. But now I do," she added.

The RHOC mom also shared that during her appointment on Wednesday, she had two biopsies performed to determine if two moles were cancerous. She discovered a basal cell on her neck and will be using a chemotherapy cream to shrink it before her doctor lasers it off.

"Get checked often," she stressed. "My cousin died from melanoma when he was 36. So, go every four months if you’re like me. Get checked."
