Luann de Lesseps is embracing the blonde.
Fresh off her headlining performance on Fire Island, The Real Housewives of New York City alum surprised her fans by unveiling a playful new hairstyle. The mother of two posted an Instagram photo that gave off major incognito vibes, as she was seen inside a car donning a pair of light-pink sunglasses and shoulder-length platinum blonde locks with choppy bangs. The change was both unexpected and very drastic, so much so that Luann wondered if she would get recognized out in public.
“Would you be able to spot me in a crowd?” she captioned the August 31 post.
Luann de Lesseps rocks a lighter hairstyle
It’s safe to assume Luann's new hairstyle was just a wig, similar to the one she rocked in Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake. During Episode 5, Luann and Sonja Morgan did a bit of shopping at a Benton retailer called Sue’s, where Luann picked up a pixie-cut wig that looked a little familiar to her castmate.
“You could be Lisa Rinna for Halloween,” Sonja told Luann in the episode, referencing the iconic hairstyle of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum.
Just days after the Crappie Lake Season 1 finale, Luann returned to Instagram to provide a close-up shot of her short blonde wig, which she paired with a hot pink sequins dress.
“Do blondes really have more fun?!” she wrote in the August 22 post.

Although Luann’s hairstyle has been fairly consistent over the years, The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip mom isn’t afraid to stray from her signature shag. The natural brunette has donned multiple head-turning 'dos throughout her small-screen career, including a sleek top knot, long curls, and a slicked-back high ponytail.
It was more than a year ago when Luann caused a mild stir by wearing a short blonde bob with a black driving cap. Although the hair turned out to be a wig, which she credited to Angelo David Pisacreta, the cabaret singer confessed she was considering a lighter look.
“Thinking of going [blonde]?” Luann captioned the photo.
Sonja was among those who encouraged her former castmate to take the plunge: “Why not,” she wrote, followed by the flame emoji.
What's next for Luann de Lesseps?
Luann is now gearing up for the premiere of RHUGT Season 4, also known as RHONY Legacy. The season will be set in St. Barts and will reunite Luann and Sonja with fellow RHONY alumni Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Dorinda Medley, Ramona Singer, and Kristen Taekman.
“Season one of Ultimate Girls Trip was cool because I got to meet all the ladies from different franchises,” Luann told The Daily Dish back in June. “I feel like that show, which was the very first, will feel very different for me on this Ultimate Girls Trip because it’s just the RHONY cast, you know? The O.G. cast.”
RHONY Legacy is scheduled to premiere in December on Peacock.
